heatherandjohn Posted March 6, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 6, 2010 We are thinking of going on a Princess alaskan cruise. In your opinion, which area is better? Thanks, Heather and John
NancyIL Posted March 6, 2010 #2 Share Posted March 6, 2010 If you want to see glaciers - Glacier Bay. You might not see any if your ship runs into a lot of ice in Tracy Arm.

I've heard that time and again here. Don't know if I'll ever have time to go back, so we chose Glacier Bay.
Budget Queen Posted March 7, 2010 #4 Share Posted March 7, 2010 I have been to all the cruiseship sailing areas, there isn't any "bests". :) IF you want to sail by glaciers, then your choice is going to be Glacier Bay. IF you can get on the Princess add on Tracy Arm boat tour (a "must" in my opinion) this is a fantastic sailing, and you do get a good deal of glacier time. BUT if you aren't going to pay about the extra $200 pp, this still is scenic sailing, you just are not going to see as much. You might want to look at the whole package? Ports, time in ports, price etc etc
MercedMike Posted March 7, 2010 #5 Share Posted March 7, 2010 This question is so often asked that I did a web page on it. You can see my reports and pics of all four experiences at http://www.bully4.us/alaskaglaciers.html Bottom line -- for your first cruise, Glacier Bay without a doubt!! knorrisb07 Posted March 7, 2010 #7 Share Posted March 7, 2010 You may take into account the port of calls for the rest of itinerary too.
