S class design- curved back flip

Does anyone know why they put a curved flap at the lower back of the Soltice class ships? Is this an engineering piece or is it for aesthetics?:eek:

If you are referring to the fantail at the waterline- it's to give extra space for the azipods underneath.

Loved our table and the excellent menu this restaurant offers.

 

From the window tables you can see the so-called 'flip' and understand its' placement a little better.

It is, like Tntornadox said, to provide more space for the pods. It also increases hydrodynamics and increases the efficiency of the pods.
