Whittier to Anchorage Transportation

Should I book the Princess train from Whittier to Anchorage for the $90 or can anyone suggest other options available? We will have 2 days to spend after our cruise and will be renting a car at the Anchorage airport and traveling up to Talkeetna for flightseeing Denali/McKinnley. Is the Princess train the way to go on this "segment" of our trip? I kinda' feel like my husband and I are going to be on the show "American Race"!!! LOL!!!! Any suggestions are appreciated..............

No with only 2 days- I would take the first available cruise contracted bus to the airport. The route is the exact same - bus and rail and you would be far better off having an early start.

No guarantees of course, but we took a Princess bus from Whittier to the airport to pick up a rental and we were slotted as the 4th group off the ship. We got the car hours before we had expected to and used this time to explore more on the way to Denali.
