Just booked on the Pearl for Canada/New England, 10/1/2010. What port does NCL use in NYC and where is it located? What airport would it be most convenient and closest to fly into?[/quote

LaGuardia is in Queens, NY and is a 30 minute taxi ride to the pier.

Happy Cruising,

Monty

The terminal is on the Hudson River in the area of 50th. st, it is adjacent to the Intrepid Air and Space Museum. The most convienent airport is Newark and is about a 30 minute ride to the pier. Laguardia is the 2nd best as it is actually closer but traffic can get you tied up getting to the pier.

Has there been a change????? We're also looking at Canada cruises this fall and I do NOT remember seeing one for the Pearl!!

That's what I was thinking. I booked the Dawn for 9/12 but was originally going on the Dawn on 10/3. 10/1 Perl /NYC?

I prefer Newark Airport over the other two in NY.

NCL uses the Manhattan Cruise terminal. There are three piers at the Manhattan cruise terminal, piers 88, 90 and 92.(48th street, 50th street and 52 nd street respectively all on 12th Avenue). The motor entrance to the piers is at 54-55th street and 12th avenue.

LGA is closest to the pier at 9 miles. EWR is 14 and JFK is 18 miles. A cab from LGA will cost about $35 from EWR about $65 and from JFK under $60.

Car services charge about the same price. The least expensive way(for two people) from EWR has you take the bus to port authority bus terminal and then a cab to the cruise terminal about $45.00 in total. So you really can chose which airport based on price and flight time convenience for you.

A cab back from the cruise terminal will be most expensive to EWR at about $80(its meter plus round trip tolls plus $15 plus tip see http://www.nyc.gov/tlc). The price back from the cruise terminal to LGA and JFK will remain the same as above.

Hi Deb, remember me? We cruised to Bermuda on the Dawn a year or so ago. Thinking about doing Bermuda again in September. Small world. Maybe we will see you on the 9/12 sailing.

Bette

Hello Bette! That would be a hoot if you were on the same sailing.

Hurry and book since I hear the prices are going up very soon.

How have you been? I had originally booked the 10/3 but decided to

go earlier. Don't really need to see the fall foliage.

so what would it cost to get from Laguardia to Sheraton NYC Hotel and Tower

by cab about $35.00 per cab...by car service about the same http://www.carmellimo.com/Rates.shtml as an example other car services/limos will vary.

by supershuttle...see http://www.supershuttle.com

its possible to do it by bus and subway for $2.25 per person but that takes longer and with cruise luggage not recommended.

at least this is now accurate.

The old one showed a $15 cab fare from EWR to Manhattan....

ps I also tried to find metro bus and this is what I found from LGA

it leaves about every half hour...or more.
