StLucia Posted March 28, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 28, 2010 We are about to book a cruise to Venice for 2011, on either Azura or Eclipse, I'd appreciate the help of those of you who have been on this cruise. For the best views sailing into Venice would we be better with a port or starboard balcony. Thanks for your help.

-Lew- Posted March 28, 2010 #3 Share Posted March 28, 2010 I would agree...starboard is the side to be on. Having said that, don't select your cabin just for the 30 minute approach to Venice. There will be sites to see on both sides of the ship...up on one of the upper decks is the best place to view all there is to see. Lew
aquilegia Posted March 29, 2010 #4 Share Posted March 29, 2010 Starboard if you want to stay on your own balcony, but if you go up on top you will be able to enjoy the view on both sides.
StLucia Posted March 30, 2010 Author #5 Share Posted March 30, 2010 Thanks for your help, we've booked starboard, just have 17 months to wait!
Mack 13 Posted March 30, 2010 #6 Share Posted March 30, 2010 An additional consideration would be the timing of your arrival into Venice. This will probably early in the morning so if you aren;t an early riser you may opt for port so you can have the view at departure.
Rare Hlitner Posted March 30, 2010 #7 Share Posted March 30, 2010 We agree with the other posters that you do not want to be on your balcony (starboard or port) when you sail in or out of Venice. The way to truly appreciate the beauty of this port is to be on an upper deck where you can view either side of the ship as well as the view to the front (bow). You should be on deck about an hour before you dock so you can enjoy the scenery as you cruise through the lagoon. Hank
