I haven't seen the exact amounts that you use for each drink -- but I did get a copy of the New Martini drinks and what is in them.

HAL's New Martini Cocktails (premium, hand-shaken 5 ounce martinis)

XO Martini For Two - Grey Goose Vodka and aged French cognac, presented with a lemon twist and two ounces of caviar - $100

Martini Flight - Sample our premier martinis - Yellow Tulip, Peartini, Cosmopolitan, Sunshine Martini, Rum Sundae, High Tide Martini - $19.50

Yellow Tulip - the Holland America signature martini, made with Grey Goose Vodka, lychee juice, pineapple juice, guava juice, coconut cream, fresh lime juice - $9.50

Starboard Peach Martini - Grey Goose L'Orange Flavored Vodka, crème de peche, pink grapefruit juice, passion fruit syrup - $9.50

Tropical Tease Martini - Grey Goose Vodka, Cointreau, fresh lime juice, cranberry juice, pineapple juice, sparkling wine - $9.50

Sapphire Citron - Grey Goose Le Citron Flavored Vodka, Bombay Sapphire Gin, Chambord, white cranberry juice - $9.50

Run Sundae Martini - Macardi rum, muddled strawberries, banana schnapps, cream - $9.50

Then of course there is the good 'ol HAL Wang Wang

 

 

1/4 oz Vodka

1/4 oz Gin

1/4 oz White Rum

1/4 oz Scotch

1/4 oz Bourbon

1/4 oz Tequila

1/4 Triple Sec

1/4 oz Brandy

 

Top it off with Pineapple and Orange Juice and a splash of Grenadine

Are these offered at any bar? How about the Martini Flight? Offered ship wide?

Yes -- it is suppose to be on all ships.

 

Thanks....All the drinks in the flight sound so good. I hope a taste means more than just a sip. Are any of these martinis included in the cocktail card? If not...what would be included?

Sorry -- you can't buy Caviar on board.

 

In fact -- on our last cruises -- it wasn't even put into any appoetizer.

 

 

This is wrong - I've bought caviar many times on board. Just because it's not offered for free doesn't mean that the ship doesn't have it. It's not always the same brand, but it's always been fine, Beluga caviar. Just inquire at the Front Office and they will make the necessary arrangements.

Years ago Michael in the Crow's Nest introduced us to the Coral Lemon Drop. We asked for the recipe but unfortunately HAL, at least at the time, didn't have them available. But not to worry says Michael and he takes my wife, who worked her way through college as a bartender, behind the bar and coaches her step by step on how to make the drink. One of our favorites and she makes us Coral Lemon Drops every couple of weeks. :)

 

My wife wrote the following out for a previous post on CC:

 

Coral Lemon Drop

 

1-1/2 oz Vodka (We use Smirnoff or a good brand smooth vodka)

1/2 oz Chambord (Raspberry liqueur)

3 oz Sweet and Sour Mix

Lemon wedges (Cut one large into six wedges or one small into four wedges)

 

Using a steel shaker and glass, squeeze or mash two lemon wedges into bottom of glass. Add 2 parts each of vodka, Chambord, sour mix and add ice leaving room at top of glass. Shake well and strain into martini glasses rimmed with sugar.

 

When I'm only making one at a time just use one wedge of lemon and one part of each liquid.

 

The color of the drink should be coral - if you have too much Chambord in it it looks too pink!

Oh' date=' and you can prearrange caviar through ships services as well - this actually saves money. We did it for a company trip once in advance. :o[/quote']

The cocktail card is just for the daily specials and regular martinis, etc. We were sitting with a couple one evening when they asked if they could use the cocktail card for these special drinks. They were told yes -- BUT -- they would still be charged as the card only covers drinks up to $5.50.

We received a gift of a fabulous tin of caviar delivered to our cabin set in huge silver bowl with chipped ice. Presentation was outstanding with all the usual caviar fixings set out beautifully on white clothed cart. A wonderful bottle of champagne accompanied it and what an incredible treat that was. We quickly called another CC couple we were friendly with on board and they came to our cabin to join in with us. We had a fabulous time!!

 

So, yes..... there is caviar on the ships.

The vodka is Absolut Mandarin

I don't think the amount you mention is quite right.

 

For the most part you can use the cocktail cards for most beverages in the drink books or "standard" type drinks.

 

The Grey Goose martinis come at a higher price and aren't 1 punch on the cards, and if you order something like say a rum and coke but with a top shelf liquor they may say they can't use the card or I've seen some cases where they will punch the card and then just charge the upsell for the higher quality liquor (I would imagine usually $0.50-$2.00 depending on what we're talking about here)

 

Not sure what the CURRENT policy on that is though, only referencing what I've seen in the past

On my most recent 2 cruises with HAL, the Signature Martinis (i.e. the special martinis that were mentioned above with the flights) were specifically offered in the Piano Bar each night. I tried to order the Yellow Tulip in the Crows nest and was told that it was only available in the specific bar that is advertised in the Daily Program as having the Signature Martinis. I tried the flight - the glasses are always stored above the bar, and most recently on the Ryndam every night they put them out in front of the Piano Bar on a table as you walked past to advertise. DBA is correct - it's a miniature version of a martini glass - 6 of them set into a special plastic tray with each topped up with a different martini, about 2-3 oz each. It was very fun and VERY good :-) My favorite signature martini was the Ginger Rogers that I had on the Volendam in New Zealand. They had it on the Ryndam's menu, but they could not make it as a primary ingredient is Ginger Beer and they could not get it on board in Tampa apparently. Lots of it in NZ and Australia though. The signature martinis on the Ryndam were $9.50 I believe, but they let me use the cocktail card with them...not sure if this was a nice bartender/steward or they just didn't know that they were apparently not supposed to use them?

I believe it's 2 oz of each if I'm not mistaken. If you can't make up your mind it's a good starting point :o

 

Not bad, just enough to give you a real taste. The 6 offered sound good....And so does that Coral Lemon Drop;)
