Summit specialty resturants

The specialty restaurants on Celebrity are outstanding.

See the menu's from the Olympic (same restaurant on Summit's sister ship the Millennium) at the end of this photo site, including the normal ala carte menu, the wine pairing menu, and the special Wine Dinner Menu - all from a few weeks ago: http://simon-pics.smugmug.com/Cruises/Cruise-Ship-Rooms-and-Features/Menus-and-Information/4467773_J9pi2#822368006_5YeeN

When you say "better than others" what are you comparing to? We enjoyed them more than the specialty restaurants we'd experienced on other cruise lines, but it's been a few years. If you're referring to other Celebrity ships, the specialty restaurants on the M-class ships, and Muranos on the other ones, have had similar offerings and quality.

Special orders in specialty restaurants?

Some folks have said they ate in specialty restaurant most or ALL nights of cruise. With a fixed menu, I imagine repition might irk some.

Has anyone had the specialty restaurant custom-make a dish? For instance on the 3rd visit would they make you a steak, or surf and turf, or veal parm, or something like that if you request in advance?

Hi:) yes, there are folks who eat there quite often. As for being

"irked", there are plenty of choices even if you were to eat there every

night. But yes, they will make you something special should you choose

to dine there every evening.

We've had them offer us specials not on the menu and not offered the first night, but have never requested a special order (other than dessert for my DW who can not have chocolate). But I think they did offer to make us anything we'd request that they had the items for. Never had a problem finding items on the menu even when we've eaten there three times during a longer cruise.

We've dined in the specialty restaurants as many as 14 nights for our Panama Canal cruise. After the first 5 nights, they offered us special menus where we had a choice of different salads, appetizers, main courses and desserts.

Some of the off menu choices were Russian Salad consisting of lobster, shrimp and fresh veggies, a cobb salad, Mixed Grill that consisted of rack of lamb--filet--veal, a pasta dish that was prepared tableside which contained lobster tail---shrimp--mussels over a bed of linguini and a cream tomato sauce, a pasta trio (white, spinach and tomato pasta) with shrimp and grilled whitefish, lobster thermadore, a spectacular Indian dish with fresh chutney, mango souffle, raspberry souffle, bananas foster, and a banana split.

So, if you dine there often, they most certainly do have different items to choose from.
