Texas Tillie Posted April 11, 2010 #3 Share Posted April 11, 2010 I've been on the Volendam and the Ryndam and the safe required a magnetized card to swipe to open and close. What will I find on the Oosterdam?
sail7seas Posted April 11, 2010 #4 Share Posted April 11, 2010 If your safe reqires a card to swipe for opening and closing, you can use any card that has magnetic strip. Don't use your valid M/C, Visa, AmEx card as you probably want to lock them up. I use a card from a department store that is now out of business. Use a library card, expired old card of any sort that has magnetic strip. All the Vista ships have combination locks you pick your own four digit number. All the "S" ships require magnetic card to operate safe. I forget which style the "R" class ships have but I think it is magnetic strip.
luvs2travl Posted April 11, 2010 #5 Share Posted April 11, 2010 The Oosterdam safes require 4-digit number code which you will assign when you reach your cabin. Very easy to use. There have been safes in every cabin on each ship on which we have sailed.
Krazy Kruizers Posted April 11, 2010 #6 Share Posted April 11, 2010 Amsterdam is the magnetic type safe -- I just use an old expired AAA card.
