Excursion from Emerald

we are on the Emerald Princess this July and were looking at the different shore excursions offered. Has anyone done the Turtle Cove Sail & Snorkel Adventure out of St. Thomas? I believe we are the only ship in port that day so should not be busy at the different snorkel sites but wondered if this was worth the money?

If it's available when you're there see if there is a full day or 3/4 day sail to St. John--snorkeling in different places--BBQ lunch---would not recommend the 1/2 day sail--go for all day--Heavenly Daze or Heavenly Days are great boats if available--we went on a different one a few month ago and it also was good--good long day--good beach and snorkeling--lunch was on the beach

In February we did the Princess St. John Half Day Champagne Catamaran excursion and had a fantastic time. I would highly recommend this or the full day excursion.

Here's the description from the Princess web site:

St. John Half Day Champagne Catamaran

Take an exclusive cruise on a sailing catamaran and enjoy some fun in the sun on enchanted St. John.

After a safari bus transfer step aboard the catamaran for your sail to the lovely, palm-fringed beaches of St. John, safeguarded by the National Park Service. Meet your friendly crew at the dock and then cruise along St.Thomas' eastern shore before the brisk sail across Pillsbury Sound. Anchor at a special mooring off a St. John beach and then enjoy approximately 90 minutes to swim, snorkel, beachcomb, or just relax under the swaying palms. Freshly baked breads, cheeses, fruit, and non- alcoholic beverages are served onboard; complimentary champagne and other alcoholic beverages are available after snorkeling. Snorkeling equipment including snorkel vest, professional instruction, and supervision are provided.

The catamaran was big with plenty of room for all and the crew was fantastic. We had about 1½ hours to snorkel in Honeymoon Bay and then champagne and snacks on the way back. The ½ day excursion left us with plenty of time for shopping in Charlotte Amalie and Havensight.

Check where you are picked up. The full day is right at the dock and I'm not sure if the 1/2 day is there. If it talks about a ride then that is time you are not on the water. There is an entire section of this board talking about the ports and excursions. You can read a lot of info there. Just look on the main boards page further down the page.
