Toto2Kansas Posted April 26, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 26, 2010 At least one cruise line thinks so and is adding them to the fare. Read the CC article here: http://www.cruisecritic.co.uk/news/news.cfm?ID=3833

paul929207 Posted April 27, 2010 #4 Share Posted April 27, 2010 The economy seems to be picking up. The poor economy was the reason cited by Carnival Corp when they said no fuel charges even though oil went over $70 per barrel.
Buddy604 Posted April 27, 2010 #5 Share Posted April 27, 2010 At least one cruise line thinks so and is adding them to the fare. Read the CC article here:http://www.cruisecritic.co.uk/news/news.cfm?ID=3833 I hope not. I noticed several itinerary changes in some of my favourite voyages which seem to be fuel-saving in nature. My LA coastal doesn't pop down to San Diego before heading north this year. Instead we have a stop in Seattle.
grandmato4 Posted April 27, 2010 #6 Share Posted April 27, 2010 We hope they don't, but we know its a possiblity. We managed to avoid paying any the last time as all three cruises we sailed during the time it was in effect were booked before the "magic date". If it happens it happens. Akheila Posted April 27, 2010 #7 Share Posted April 27, 2010 Well I have noticed on princess' own website they have changed the area where it was right on the homepage. Although I have noticed on our Aug2010 cruise that our fees have gone up slightly. Its an Alaskan cruise, so I was hoping to see a drop, not an increase in gov't fees. But like many others here...it won't likely stop us from cruising.

jagsfan Posted April 27, 2010 #9 Share Posted April 27, 2010 I'd rather spend my money playing than on fuel. I've dodged the bullet in the past, hope it happens again.
Go-Bucks! Posted April 27, 2010 #10 Share Posted April 27, 2010 I've also wondered if it was coming. Last time it took effect just before my cruise and it may do that again. Won't keep me from going, but I probably won't spend as much on the ship as I would have without it. AlaskaGolden Posted April 27, 2010 #11 Share Posted April 27, 2010 My "guess" is that Carnival/Princess will impose the fuel supplement fee if oil goes and stays above $100 per barrel  for a week or more effective immediately on future sailings regardless if full payment has been made or not. michigan tim Posted April 27, 2010 #12 Share Posted April 27, 2010 Think of the influx of cash they'd get if they announced it 2 weeks prior and stated that those paid in full would not be affected. ;)
jfv379 Posted April 27, 2010 #13 Share Posted April 27, 2010 Just so long as they don't implement it in the two days I think I'm safe. Leaving Thursday for Panama Canal, FLL to LA, on the Island:D
