Are fuel supplements in the near future (again)?

At least one cruise line thinks so and is adding them to the fare. Read the CC article here:

I hope not. I noticed several itinerary changes in some of my favourite voyages which seem to be fuel-saving in nature. My LA coastal doesn't pop down to San Diego before heading north this year. Instead we have a stop in Seattle.

Well I have noticed on princess' own website they have changed the area where it was right on the homepage. Although I have noticed on our Aug2010 cruise that our fees have gone up slightly. Its an Alaskan cruise, so I was hoping to see a drop, not an increase in gov't fees.

 

But like many others here...it won't likely stop us from cruising.

My "guess" is that Carnival/Princess will impose the fuel supplement fee if oil goes and stays above $100 per barrel :eek: for a week or more effective immediately on future sailings regardless if full payment has been made or not.
