My sister and brother in law are on a cruise as this moment and she sent me a message stating there was a disaster in Nice France on Monday and the ship had to leave port abruptly. Does anyone now what the disaster was?

I think it was really bad storms that stopped tendering, there was a thread about it on here somewhere, I think they had to move the ship and bus passengers down the coast to another port to get onboard

There were sudden very rough seas (15-20 foot waves) which destroyed some levies and made a mess of beaches, restaurants, etc right on the water. An RCI tendered in Villefranche had to leave in a big hurry to dock properly in nearby Toulon, passengers who were "stranded" were taken to the ship by bus. This sometimes happens in the winter, but never in May, so it was a freak incident.
