We booked the Liarsville gold rush camp and salmon bake excursion. Does anyone have any information about it? Is it worth it, or should I consider canceling. Thanks for your input.

We just came back from Alaska last week and did the train, which I will highly recommend then the bus took us to Liarsville and then to the Red Onion Saloon......PLEASE BY ALL MEANS, don't go to Liarsville. You will have more fun taking that money and spending it in the casino, or standing on your balcony and throwing it overboard. It was totally a waste of money and time. The "town" is a few shacks and the so called entertainment is worse than anything I have seen in a long time. I was so excited about trying to gold pan, but all they do is give you a pan with a few rocks in it and then send you to a horse trough to find your 2 microscopic pieces of fools gold. Only thing that was ok there was the Salmon, but I say just OK. Also, the Red Onion Saloon was included in the tour, it wasn't bad, but i really expected more. Total tour there was about 15 minutes.

Someone used the term "cheesy" and that about sums it up. We took the rail tour, visited Liarsville and toured the Red Onion. I enjoyed the rail tour but I would've skipped the other two if I had to do it again.

We did Liarsville, and yes, it was a little hokey. But the best part was getting back on the bus. As we boarded, a black bear was crossing the road less than 30 feet in front of the bus! It happened so fast that I didn't even have time to take out my camera!
