I cant say for sure about the Spendor, but just about ever Carnival ship I have been on has an ATM or two. ( Not sure about the first carnival cruise I was on ) but am sure that Triumph, Valor and Liberty all had one.

I used it on the Valor, and I know there was a fee for using the ATM, which is standard with ATMs but cant remember how much, either 1.50 or 2.00. There is a way you can get money in the casino without paying that 1.50, though I am not clear on that. Im sure, others will advise though. :)

On the Splendor, there is an ATM machine down by the Pursers desk and in the Casino. When I was onboard, the surcharges were high - $6 for dollars, and 6 euro for euros (we did a European cruise). If you're going to Mexico, it will dispense dollars. All the Mexican ports take dollars. They may give you change in pesos. I think the casino will give you cash and add it to the bill of your Sign and Sail card with no fee.

PLUS whatever the bank will charge. One time i did that-- total fee was 7.50

if using your ATM in a port-- your bank COULD charge international rates.

Banks in foreign countries dispense the currency of THAT country sooo in Mexico ATMS will give you pesos. You need to tell your ATM bank that you are traveling so they don't block transactions.

I would not use the ATM on the ship as it will charge extra fees.

ATMs in Mexico will add on whatever fee your bank charges for foreign transactions and may have their own fees as well.

You can use dollars in most of these ports but they will not give you the best exchange rate. It will probably be around 10 pesos to each dollar when the normal rate is somewhere around 13 BUT it will probably be less expensive than the fees charged by an ATM.

You can also use your credit card to buy things but that may also charge a foreign transaction fee.

3% fee added to get cash in the casino. No fee (from what I hear) if you're using your S&S card to play the poker and slot machines.

We always bring cash with us and keep it in the safe you can blow a lot of fees otherwise, of course credit card can work too, most places will accept credit cards and keep the cash for the places that wont take it we usually put enough towards the ss card and havent ever gone over, we just dont like paying a fee for cash...the one time we did need money the machine was empty..lesson learned !

All you have to do is transfer funds (on any slot machine) from your S&S account to your casino account. Then take the card to the cashier to get the cash. No fees! It's very easy to do, though it sounds really complicated when you try to explain it to someone. It really is the cheapest way to get cash on a cruise.

Also, if you have a credit card set up to pay your S&S account you DO NOT get any cash advance fees by transfering funds to your casino account and then cashing it out.

You also do not get any foreign transaction fees (assuming you are from the USA) as the credit card transaction shows as being in Miami, FL where the corporate headquarters are.

We used the S&S to casino account method on our last cruise. The funds were then charged to my husband's rewards visa card, which we paid off as soon as we got home with the cash we had saved up to use on the cruise. We got rewards points on our cash spending that way, with no fees, no interest!! Way cool.

We finally gave in and tried this on the Dream last month. Our credit union informed us they were no longer going to carry travelers checks. We bought some of their remaining supply as a just in case. When we got on the ship and tried the casino for cash method at the slot machines we were relieved to see how easy it is to get the cash.

Whatever you do DON'T go to the cashier window and ask to make a cash withdrawl against your credit card or you will be charged a fee. They also cash personal checks for a fee (I think she said 6% of the value of the check). Gotta love putting the card in the slot machine and cashing out my players bank at the cashier for no fees and points on my card as you said :)
