THey are up and running again.. Just placed an order for Captain Morgans for Aug. Sailing.. :D

You can order this soon? Why was I thinking that it had to be a few weeks from the time you sail? Wow, all these threads I read, you'd think I would've picked up on that :o

So I can order now... for our July cruise in 7 1/2 weeks? :D

Yup, I ordered for my Feb 2011 cruise.

They are either 40 oz or 1 litre bottles. My vodka is 1 litre, Canadian Club is 40 oz, which is odd since in Canada we go by litres but I guess since it is being sold in the US, it is bottled in ounces.

I brought a 6er of Coke and two big bottels of Tonic, no problems. Room service can always supply you with plenty of limes as well :)

Just curious - have you always been able to get limes from room service? Any time I asked they seemed a bit 'clueless' - I had to either use lemon or go to one of the bars, smile and ask nicely and would be given a cup of lime slices!;)

NOT correct. Non-alcoholic beverages can be brought aboard, up to twelve (no size specified), in your carry-on luggage (which can be a rolling suitcase).

Thank you VERY much! I didn't even think about a rolling suit case. There will be 5 of us traveling but only will have 4 bags so think I will make it 5, include the rolling suitcase.

Traveling on JetBlue so right now, one bag per person for free.

I will have water and soda also delivered and will use backpacks for these, the kids and dh will kill me but I'll get them on the ship.

I usually use rum and a mojito mixer but reading on line it looks like I can just use regular sugar with lime and mint. I have tons of mint growing up my driveway. Can I just pack that in my suitcase or will that not be allowed somehow? I'd also like to pack limes, not so sure I can keep getting them every day from room service. Can I pack it and bring on ship?

Thanks all!

I am new to cruising and have seen some posts about ordering liquor through the Bon Voyage department. My question is can you only order over the phone or is there somewhere online you can order??? Thanks

call the bon voyage department, they don't post the liquor over the website, but you can order on phone. Also a little hint, if you order anything through them be sure to print out your PAID IN FULL receipt in case your bottle or whatever you order does not come.

We ordered a bottle of rum on the Glory a few years ago, well we sailed on a Saturday and they did not have it in our room, went down to pursers desk and they said they couldn't help me till the BV department opened on MONDAY:eek:, really ticked me off. Well late Sunday night the steward brought the bottle, stating that it was delivered to the wrong room.

Really a disappointment. So have your receipts with you just in case.

I am a fan of Carnival but their consistancy for the customer service STINKS.

cheers, Carole

Great hint. Thank you. I have the confirmation number they gave me but where do I get the receipt? Online on my CCL account? Thank you VERY much!

Does this imply you pay for your Bon Voyage liquor purchases at the time they are ordered, presumably via credit card? And then they e-mail you a receipt?

For some reason I had just guessed they'd put it on your Sign and Sail card so you'd already have a balance when you boarded. Not that paying in advance is a problem.

Anything you order through the Bon Voyage department you pay for via credit card at the time of the order. They will email you the reciept. We ordered before our last cruise in march and I could not find my receipt the day before we left, so I called BV and he was able to email me another one in no time.

To those waiting to order, don't. If you order now and then they up the prices you still will only pay the original price (since you already paid for it). We ordered a case of beer and at the time the price was 4.95 for a 16 oz. Bud Light. Shortly after, the prices went up to 5.75 and we never had to pay the difference.

Bon Voyage is a gift service so everything needs to be paid at time of purchase. My rum last week came wrapped in cellophane with a big bow and a card To me, From me. :)

In case anyone is wondering, we had no problem taking the bottle off the ship at HMC, or bringing the (much) lighter bottle back. If it hadn't been cold and rainy all day we probably wouldn't have anything to worry about bringing back. :(

Thanks for posting the list of BV alcohol and the tips about bringing the receipts - of course, I'm a weirdo about printing and bringing everything with me (cruise confirmation, shore excursions, BV receipts, etc), just to make sure nothing goes awry. I will be ordering a bottle of scotch for my husband soon - one good thing that came out of the whole BV debacle was that people (like me) found out you can actually order liquor to your room, not just wine. I expect they'll see more business than before due to that.

As for the "lack of customer service", I disagree. That was just a mistake, and with thousands of people on the ship, some mishaps are bound to happen. At least it was resolved within a day. I think they try their best to resolve any issues. For our last cruise, I ordered champagne and an anniversary room decoration through BV, they did a lovely job and even surprised us with little metal key chains for each of us! :) Also, one night we had to wait for 30 minutes for a table (we had "Your Time" dining), so we just got a couple martinis (wow, those are strong!) and had no problem waiting. We went to the casino afterwards, and when we got back to the cabin that evening, we found little gourmet dessert things (I think they sell them through BV or on the ship somewhere) in our room with an apology letter. We weren't even bothered by the 30 minute wait and never complained! It was just a courtesy on their part.

That is just sick. I buy it locally for $21 a 1.75 liter bottle at the base exchange.

Sick is right - especially after you order a 1L of Absolut for $40 plus tax, then when you get on the ship, see it selling for 4/44.99 UGHHHHHHHH. ($11.25 per bottle!)What a mark-up.!!!!!!!!!!!

I just called BV and wanted to order Rum to make mojitos.

They do not sell Mojito mixers.

Technically, I cannot bring the mixer on the ship, correct?

So, if I want to have the mixer, I need to smuggle it in?

Also, I wanted Tanqueray Gin. They only have Beefeater and Bombay Sapphire. Does anyone know which one is comparable with cost not the issue.

Thank you VERY much!

Bombay Sapphire is very nice. I used to drink martini's made out of this.

Try it - you'll like it!

in regards to limits....I just ordered four bottles for my upcoming cruise and 2 sheets of drink coupons and she was still asking me if I wanted to buy anything else....if there is a limit, im not sure I can drink enough in a week to reach it...lol

When I placed my order last week, I ordered a bottle of Absolute and bottle of Makers Mark. After that, I was asked, "would you like anything else today?" I guess I could've order more if I wanted to.

They don't charge sales tax on the $40. (Not that it makes THAT much difference!) ;)

Bon Voyage charged me $42 plus change - I live in Florida - I don't know if that was why - they said the price was $40 plus tax. Now, why would I make that up? I was charged $42 something like I said in my post.

Probably has more to do with port of departure then where you live. I think I paid more tax then that out of New York.

As far as the gins go, neither is very similar to Tanqueray. Neither is as 'piney'. Beefeater is nice but very dry. Bombay is richer and smoother. I was suprised they didn't have Tanqueray. I ordered Beefeater thru BV which was great, but then got two bottles of Sapphire in the gift shop, so I likem both.

Just got back from a cruise last week and did order a bottle of Stoli from Bon Voyage for $40--total of $42.29. Very convenient, although pricy. I didn't mind, as it was so nice to not have to deal with it and the vodka was all wrapped up in cellophane waiting for us upon arrival to our room. On the first night, I passed by the liquor tasting and was curious and stopped. I was surprise to find that the same vodka was being sold for 2/$19.99. LOL. Very cheap. You could mix and match. I bought Captain Morgan and Cruzan Pineapple Rum for under $20. Those are the one liter bottles, too. Absolut was $14.99 a bottle or 4/$44.99. Bought that, too. They had Absolut Tropics and I didn't see that anywhere in Nassau liquor stores. I popped into the first liquor store I saw to price the things I bought onboard and I was suprised that Carnival's prices were slightly cheaper. Just a little (like a dollar or less) and Carnival boxes it up and delivers it to your stateroom. Can't ask for more. I would definitely order from BonVoyage again and I would definitely buy liquor onboard from Carnival.
