Interior Cabin even tho use to Balcony?

Though you might be use to a balcony, would you book an interior? If you have gone from balcony to interior, how did you like it?

I know this is odd, but in the 10-12 cruises we have been on over 20 years we have only done a true interior once. And that was 8 years ago and we took the kids! So 4 of us in an interior and it was kind of rough. The main reason were not enough storage and one small bathroom for 4 people to get ready in the morning/dinner.

We got a Balcony in November for our anniversary (just wife and I) and thought about a cruise this November, again, just wife and I. But we didn't want to spend that kind of money. Of course as we looked at other options such as just going to Vegas or San Antonio or something for a week the cost is getting real close to an interior cabin on a cruise maybe more. Likely more.

Sooo...thinking of doing the Conquest for a week on an interior cabin. It would just be just wife and I. We loved the Valor so we know the Conquest would be fun.

Thoughts on "going budget" when use to going First Class?

Couldn't do it! Tried an o-veiw once since first balcony and was miserable.

Stood with my nose pressed against the window most of the time!

I guess I'm an 'Addict' although I am not a balcony snob. If I can't afford balcony, I'll just stay home.

Happy cruising, whatever your choice. :)

If I can't book a balcony then I don't go on a cruise. It is as simple as that!

I hate when people say "I hardly spend any time in my cabin" HELLOOOO that is because you are in an inside cabin!!

HELLOOOO to you :p

I had a balcony. I still spent hardly any time in the cabin and just about no time on the balcony.

I like to be with people. If I want to sit by myself...I might as well stay home.

WOW....I guess I should say I am sorry if any of us (that see no problem in booking an inside cabin) offended you...but just to let you know I have a had a balcony too and guess what I hardly stayed in it because I was out having fun with other people...or otherwise I may as well be home in the comfort of my recliner.....

Well I have had 5 cruises total spread out over 30 years...only 2 were 7 day. I thought I would never take and inside again after a tiny, tiny one with one bunk that opened from the wall...inside single..on a very small ship from the 50's. I was 20 and 120 lbs and still could not turn over seasick on that bunk without falling off.

My best cabin has been a minisuite with Balcony on Princess..with my vast experience (smiles).

Circumstances forced major budget restraints and my last cruise I took as an escort for some seniors. They had a suite and I was in a 1A on Carnival Paradise. It was just one of those unique get aways that worked and I loved my roomy for one 1A inside with wide enough single bed that stayed on the floor!!! Had a cabin crawl with folks met at dinner and they sat and chatted with me a bit in the cabin.

My opinion is each experience has it's own blessings...we change our minds with the added experience...and Carnival does too much right with their cost and cabin size, beds etc. to not go for a budget inside if that is what circumstances dictate.

Loving the feedback!

Just annoys the crap out of me that it is nearly a $100 more PER PERSON to depart out of Galveston over say Miami. God, if we lived in Florida, we would probably cruise 5 times a year!!

My wife did some checking and said "look they lowered prices". But in fact she was looking at Valor over the Conquest....agghhhh....

Don't get me wrong, we enjoy our balcony cabins that we have gotten most of the time. And we swore we would never do an interior again after last time, but that was with the kids. So 4 of us in an interior! I think will be fine just the two of us.

I guess just need to decide if we are taking a vacation this year. If yes, then it is a cruise. Nothing comes close to being that cheap (interior cabin). Couldn't drive to Austin or San Antonio and spend a week there for that. Heck it would be $600 to $700 just for the hotel!

Not true!

We had verandah for our Panama Canal cruise and still didn't spend any extra time in the cabin. Why would we? All of the fun is on deck, as are the people. If I wanted to be alone, in my room, at a resort, I'd just stay home.

Happy cruising to all!

I think alot of it depends the length of the cruise we did 13 nights on an RCCL ship I think an inside would have made me crazy..but on a 7 day we have done all 3..We have opted to do a balcony on the Splendor this year only because my boys still go down fairly early and I wanted a place to sit and relax at the end of the day..and chances are DH will be playing cards so it will be me watching the boys..I think any cabin is fine I just enjoy being on vacation!
