Your #1 favorite thing about Serenade of the Seas

Recommended Posts

OK, have to agree with some of the others here. First off the people we met the two years we did the Serenade are what made this a wonderful time. Would love to cruise with them again in the future.

Loved the Schooner bar and the piano player and the hump balconies are great.

Also agree on the service and staff being great. Just miss Sam coming around with my afterdinner drink.

Portofino AND Chops, Schooner Bar, the COWS!!!

The fact that the WJ has a great outdoor seating at the aft of the ship.

Where are the COWS!! We are sailing with a group from a dairy assn. and don't want to miss them.

We'll be there too! The wait is AGONIZING!

By the way, what exactly IS the Solarium?

Solarium is the "indoor" pool area.

My favorite thing about Serenade is that it is a RCCL ship taking me on a cruise somewhere, anywhere.

Oh, and the cows.;)

What a great post. Like others have said, it's impossible to choose just one thing. In no particular order, my top 10 include:

  1. Being able to eat OUTSIDE at the Windjammer. It is so nice to watch the ship docking at port while eating breakfast and drinking my coffee on the outdoor dining deck.
  2. All the public activities are more intimate. The Quest game is played with small teams of six people. Passengers dance with the "Village People" at the 70s party, rather than just watching them on the balcony above the Promenade. It's a more "friendly" ship.
  3. The glass elevators.
  4. The solarium.
  5. The really excellent service.
  6. Very few children. (Don't get me wrong, I'm a mom and I've taken my kids on cruises. But I'm older now and my kids are grown. I prefer the more adult passenger base on Serenade.)
  7. Of course, the itineraries. It's why I chose the ship to begin with. I've already booked another cruise on Serenade for 2012!!
  8. All the cool statues.
  9. The Centrum.
  10. The Vortex, which features glass all around. Views of the ocean, even from the night club. Amazing!

Thanks for all the advice!! This will be our first Royal Caribbean cruise in a few years so I had forgotten some of the things we love about this cruise line. Especially the Windjammer and eating outside as you pull into port!!

Thanks....

Yes, indoor pool area, but for adults only (no one under 16). Vacation officially starts on the 11th! Can't wait!

You got it! I am enjoying this so much too and like you, was looking for a good, continuous thread about positive things regarding the Serenade! Let's hope this keeps going. Thanks to all who have joined in so far!

Do they have Texas Hold em at that casino?

Just off last week and they had Texas Hold em.

Back to the topic of the thread - Love the Pool tables over in the Safari Lounge and love the lounge itself. It takes a bit of getting use to since the ship (and you) are moving but the table is self-leveling. Weird and cool all at the same time.

Also - the Schooner Bar area is awesome - best in all of the RCI ships we've been on.

Lastly, love that large guy at the pool getting ready to jump in! Everytime we were up there I had to take another look because I thought it was a real person!

LOL! This was so funny! I saw that pic today (of the large guy at the pool area) on another site and really had to look closely because I thought it was a real person too. Also saw another one of a woman walking a dog on there. Too cute!

Question for you: About how big is the pool table area? Are there a good number of tables to play on? DH and I love to play pool and just wondering how crazy it gets in there. Also, thought I saw something about a virtual bowling alley type thing. Is that on Serenade too?

Thanks!:)
