How did you find this site?

I am just curious, since there seems to be such a wide variety of people on these boards, how did you find this place in the first place? I did a yahoo search for cruises and it came up and I clicked out of curiosity. As soon as I began to read, I was addicted!

My story is very similar, only I asked Jeeves for cruise information. And the rest is history!!

Yeah, Google for me too.

I am addicted to surfing the web -- I live alone and have been unable to drive a car for the past year.

So I go crazy over message boards on my favorite subjects -- one of which is cruising.

joan, so sorry to hear that. I hope you surround yourself with friends? The good thing is that in this day and age, you can pretty much get anything you need on the web, even groceries. I cannot imagine what someone in your situation did before access to the world. For that matter, my grandmother for example lives alone, is 96 and cannot drive anymore. She also never learned to use a computer. I know she is lonely, many if not most of her friends have died and she really doesn't have a chance to make new friends. Fortunately, her son and my sister live near enough to visit her pretty regularly but many like her are not as lucky. Have you ever looked at mycoupons.com? they have boards on just about any and every topic from shopping to family life to cleaning and recipes. Just another place you might find interesting.

You are so right,Beth. the computer is a godsend for many of us old folk who do not get out and around much any more.

I surf, I "talk," I plan trips, I shop, I play games, I write, I do genealogy searching for family roots and I play a lot of bridge on line. It is a wonderful gadget.

I will be 79 next month -- and I don't have time to be lonely with all my cyberspace friends.

I don't sit around aa lot either, however. I took a 3,000 mile motor trip with my grandson last month -- and I am a taking a Baltic cruise with Constellation in June. Got some other things planned.

hi Beth I was on the Fodor's travel site, which is geared towards all types of traveling, cruising included.
They recommend CruiseCritic for being a more specific, cruising only site

Somewhat similiar to LetmeCruise. Many years ago, perhaps around 1993 we had Prodigy which had a great cruise site at the time. That deteriorated over a couple of years as did prodigy and switched over to AOL on advice from some of the regulars on Prodigy. Picked up cruise critic then when it was exclusively under AOL and stayed on after the switch to the internet. Lost many regulars and good contributors when the switch was made but picked up a lot of new people.

If they had added the number of posts when we were under AOL many of us would probably be well over 10,000.

I found this site 2 years ago while on RCCL's website. This was when the CC parties were just getting started. Of course I had to come here, and now I'm hooked!
I've gone to 3 or 4 other message boards on cruising, but they are not viewed very much at all. Plus, all the people here are great - good information as well as a wonderful sense of humor!

Like some others, I found this site when it was an AOL feature. The format was much different then. I like the new version much better. Plus, I was not a big fan of AOL so once Cruise Critic changed to web based format I got rid of AOL! Have a great weekend.

I was mining the web for links for my HAL Veendam site when I found Cruise Critic. I really got hooked on the board when we were planning for our Celebrity excursion last year and met everyone in the roll call section.

Good topic! Google did it for me when I was looking for ship reviews. I love it ... though my DH thinks I spend too much time here! Appreciate all the information and ideas from all my fellow cruisers!

Another googler! I am so glad I found these boards, they helped to make our first cruise fabulous, and also helped us book our next.

I was wondering if there were links through TA's or other travel sites. Guess that was the case for some people. I never liked AOL so I never used it. Celebrity doesn't promote this place. I have never even seen another like it anywhere. As far as I am concerned, I feel like I really lucked out stumbling across this place. I already feel like I could be great friends with many of you (if only we lived closer). Thanks so much for all the great advice and welcoming conversation. I hope to someday meet many of you on future cruises!

I found it on an internet search, but then I later realized it was the old AOL site that I gave up when I dropped AOL. We took a Bermuda cruise while I was conversing on the AOL site and I still email a friend I met on line and then met in person on the cruise.
