LiveLoveCruise Posted June 12, 2010 #1 Share Posted June 12, 2010 I read before that in a group of 2,000 to 4,000 people, the chances of one or two deaths aren't too shabby. I heard that the ships actually have a secret code that they announce over the P.A. system... "Bright Start" or something. So my question is what do they do with all of the bodies? schmeed Posted June 12, 2010 #3 Share Posted June 12, 2010 Dunno, but I wouldn't recommend eating at the buffet the day after someone dies. :D

LambKnuckles Posted June 12, 2010 #7 Share Posted June 12, 2010 They have a morgue... It's on the Crew levels and the Brig is next to it on the CONQUEST... We got to see it on our Behind the FUN tour.
donaldsc Posted June 12, 2010 #8 Share Posted June 12, 2010 wow... Did I offend? Is that type of question not allowed here? It has actually been asked many times. They have cold storage for bodies on all ships. DON
spleenstomper Posted June 12, 2010 #9 Share Posted June 12, 2010 Well, I suppose one wouldn't care where one would be moved on a cruise ship should one become dearly departed, but I don't see the problem in asking the question. Although the hand on face smilie is priceless... lol...
kr8z Posted June 12, 2010 #10 Share Posted June 12, 2010 It's common knowledge that every ship has a morgue. The big walk in freezers in the galley are where they store the bodies.
Bunkie103 Posted June 12, 2010 #11 Share Posted June 12, 2010 They're just playing with you and based on some recent comments over a post I made, they are being nice. There is a morgue on the ship for accommodating passengers who travel to the great beyond. I once heard that when a HAL ship returns from a long cruise it's not unusual to see a line of hearses at the pier. Not a very happy thought, but we all have to go sometime. 2thesea Posted June 12, 2010 #12 Share Posted June 12, 2010 wow... Did I offend? Is that type of question not allowed here? this question made me giggle. There is a morgue on every ship. Each ship also has a jail ;)
kr8z Posted June 12, 2010 #13 Share Posted June 12, 2010 I thought they just put sunglasses on them and sat them in a deck chair Only if their name was Bernie.

rjm1cc Posted June 12, 2010 #15 Share Posted June 12, 2010 I do not think this is an uncommon event. When you have round the world cruises and older passangers I think it can be expected and the lines are prepared to handle it.
LiveLoveCruise Posted June 12, 2010 Author #16 Share Posted June 12, 2010 Thanks. The morgue makes sense... Seems necessary. Hope that I never run acrossed it, though. Jail, really?
Rotnkid49 Posted June 12, 2010 #17 Share Posted June 12, 2010 They have morgues on the ships which is certainly better than years ago when they actually cleaned out the freezers and used them. This was told to us by an assistant maitre'd on one of our cruises.
schmeed Posted June 12, 2010 #18 Share Posted June 12, 2010 I have NEVER seen a line of hearses getting off an RCI ship. That just goes to show you the average age of a cruiser on HAL!!! :)

GrandBistro Posted June 12, 2010 #22 Share Posted June 12, 2010 I've been on a couple behind-the-scenes tours. All the ships have a medical center and physicians, diagnostics, and a morgue. No brig or jaiil, though. At least that's what I've been told. If necessary, passengers are confined to their cabin with a security detail. And security cameras are all over the public areas! LiveLoveCruise Posted June 12, 2010 Author #23 Share Posted June 12, 2010 I figure if they have a morgue at least they drop you off where you started. It would kinda suck otherwise:(.
julia Posted June 12, 2010 #24 Share Posted June 12, 2010 wow... Did I offend? Is that type of question not allowed here? ALL questions are "allowed" here. But with only eleven posts.... you are curious about where a cruise ship might store someone who, unfortunately... did not complete their long-awaited cruise??? Sad..... :(

I only have eleven posts. And? I thought of something that I wanted to ask, so I asked it. It wasn't a stupid question. Now, I'm one answer wiser. Would you prefer that I hadn't bothered to ask? Let me know, because, I can be careful to only ask questions that are a little more acceptable to you, Julia. Judgemental much?
