cruisingatdawn Posted June 15, 2010 #1 Share Posted June 15, 2010 We got our tickets today, and what do we find inside, paper (A4 size printed) luggage tags that you fold and staple or sticky tape into a loop around your luggage handles.... i dont know if im over reacting but that seems very unprofessional. what if they get torn and come off the luggage? i covered ours with the wide clear sticky tape. I can imagine the blunders when people start loosing their luggage, it will be because of these pathetic paper luggage tags.. I couldnt beleive my eyes... talk about cost cutting. Least the previous ones were plastic like and self adhesive.

Princess have had them for awhile....when you go into your personalizer and print off your boarding pass you also print off your luggage tags ....we havent had any problems.....they are only trying to cut down on cost rkmw

i_love_cruising Posted June 15, 2010 #4 Share Posted June 15, 2010 We had no problems with our luggage tags - we laminated them and found them more durable than the previous "sticker-type" ones.
cruisingatdawn Posted June 15, 2010 Author #5 Share Posted June 15, 2010 Yes I think ours will be fine now with the tape strength. I'll remember the laminator for next time
Bec84 Posted June 15, 2010 #6 Share Posted June 15, 2010 Mine broke, they gave me another one of the old style ones in the check in anyway.
cruisingatdawn Posted June 15, 2010 Author #7 Share Posted June 15, 2010 Yes that's what I was affraid of. Good to see they had a solution. It is only paper.
didiaust Posted June 16, 2010 #8 Share Posted June 16, 2010 I have made my own for a few years - if I know the cabin they are attached to my bag in plastic small sleves with cable ties. I still use the ones the line gives me but mine are much safer.

Rasa Sayang Posted June 16, 2010 #10 Share Posted June 16, 2010 I've always laminated mine. Then punch a hole in them, and attach with those locking nylon cable ties. Its as cheap as chips and far more secure than anything any cruise line might offer. :)
horrie33 Posted June 16, 2010 #11 Share Posted June 16, 2010 My luggage is insured for "squillions" , and its only a 7 day cruise, maybe paper tags will get me legitimate excuse for the loss of my bags!!!!

Bella cruiser Posted June 16, 2010 #15 Share Posted June 16, 2010 Hi, do P & 0 still issue conventional tickets or are they just bits of A4 paper too (like the airlines e-tickets and e-boarding passes where you just print them off yourself), do you still get the blue folder. aussie57 Posted June 17, 2010 #16 Share Posted June 17, 2010 Hi Jenny Yes the tickets are just like e-tickets now & there are no more blue folders:( Our last 2 cruises our docks came in a vinyl folder from the TA with their own logo. I have all my old blue folders so I put my stuff in one of those & give it a sniff for old times sake. We laminated our luggage tags then stapled them on. DH's were in tact when we got our luggage in our cabin & mine were nowhere to be seen. I had put a non-made up one inside my case on top of the luggage so maybe that's how they knew where to send the luggage. much prefer the old loop through ones - much stronger & more durable (& prettier):)
cruisingatdawn Posted June 17, 2010 Author #17 Share Posted June 17, 2010 I got a blue folder it may not be the same thing you are talking about tho.? They are not sending shore tour books but there is an updated cruise guide book with wharf 5 marked on a map. Your totally right Anne the old luggage tags were way better. It's always better to have your luggage details in a few places on the bag. I'm certainally going to.
Bella cruiser Posted June 17, 2010 #18 Share Posted June 17, 2010 Thanks Anne & Allan and Cruisingatdawn for the info, at least I know what to expect.:) Regards Jenny
rockie Posted June 18, 2010 #19 Share Posted June 18, 2010 Yep, I reinforced the back of mine with wide sellotape. Seemed to be okay, but I also had my details on one of those fancy nancy tags you buy from the pharmacy travel stand.
Sandielle Posted June 19, 2010 #20 Share Posted June 19, 2010 We've used the new tags twice with no problems. Covered ours with Contact - the plastic you cover books with - put them round the handles and stapled them together. Dirt cheap (we don't have a laminator). thied Posted June 19, 2010 #21 Share Posted June 19, 2010 we have used the new tags for the last TWO CRUISES and found no problem with them, if you have any doughts about it just do what you would do if you were flying. put your own name tage on your bags.
