Kids in casino...

Anyone have a problem bringing their young child into a casino for a bit? Ours is a toddler and we'd strap him into the Ergo carrier...just wondering if there would be a problem. RCL's rules say anyone who is 18 is welcome to play, but nothing about admittance. TIA.

Every casino on every line I have ever been on has a sign at each door restricting the entrance of children unless you are passing through. I have never seen young children in a casino and, unless it is a non-smoking night, would feel very sorry for a child in the smoky atmosphere.

Thanks for the reply. It's illegal to smoke in public indoor spaces in my state so it actually didn't occur to me about the smoking in the casino (it's been a few years since I've cruised, too). That's a good point...I wouldn't want him around that.

I've seen security stop a family even just walking through (they had a toddler) and ask them to use a different deck in the future.

On one ship, the casino was near the promenade, and one family seemed to find that it worked pretty well for some of the adults to go to the casino while one or two stayed on the promenade and let the toddler run, then they would switch.

Children are allowed to "pass thru" with parents, but they are NOT allowed to be there while the parents are gambling. You may get away with it for a minute, but someone WILL approach you and tell you to leave with the child.

On one RCCL ship, I had to go to the casino cashier to redeem a prize I won from Bingo. She would not help me until dd11, who was with me, went to stand outside the casino. The same thing happened when we were travelling through the casino to dinner. One of the kids stopped for a moment and security quickly told us to keep moving.

Kids are allowed to pass through if the casino is in a major thru way. That is it. You cannot have your kid in a sling while you play a machine or at a table. You cannot have them sleeping in a stroller next to you while you play. They can't watch you play while standing or sitting next to you. It is one of the very few adult only areas on a ship and they do enforce it.

I know a lot of the Princess ships have access to the theater through the casino. I for one do not want me kids going through all of that smoke. It sounds like the casinoes are starting to have more smoke free nights. What a relief.

Who is the genius that makes it necessary to pass through the casino to get to a place that everyone wants to get to??? I hate the smoke and passengers should not be tortured just to get to the auditorium or some other common place.

Can't very well keep kids out if that is the only passage way.

On Valor I saw quite a few kids strapped in their strollers across the promenade from where their parents APPARENTLY were playing (I say "apparently" bc they were NOWHERE in sight), crying, at about midnight or so. So I'm guessing the security is pretty tight.

I thought it was OBSCENE and wished that they'd spend a few bucks for the Camp babysitting service instead of plugging it all into the slot machines or whatever. The worst thing I've EVER seen on my cruises thus far. Absolutely disturbing, to this DAY it upsets me.

I agree - I saw this once on a cruise and I was really angry. I wanted to go over to that toddler and comfort them, but then I probably would have been detained for trying to abduct the child or something like that.

You have to wonder what these parents are thinking. If the parents want to gamble they should do a switch off.

I do not think that it is appropriate for a child under 18 to be in a casino so I am glad that they are strict with this rule.
