Himself Posted June 19, 2010 #2 Share Posted June 19, 2010 The Rotterdam can be seen on the Elliot Bay Camera today and the Volendam is docked at the main dock in Skagway and can be clearly seen on the Kroooz-cam camera at Skagway.

English_in_Spain Posted June 21, 2010 #4 Share Posted June 21, 2010 your info re the Westerdam is incorrect! Why do you say that? I think it is correct. Where do you think it is? I see you are on there on 12th July - I can't see any cruises for that date. Are you on a private charter?
Knysna Posted June 21, 2010 #5 Share Posted June 21, 2010 The Westerdam and Noordedam were part of a private charter to South Africa for the World Cup. Due to lack of bookings during the cup the charters were cancelled. The Westerdam however was committed to sail as her cruise down and back were fully booked. She is off the coast of Namibia at the moment were here crew are getting some well deserved r&r. She returns to Cape Town just before she sails on the 12Th July to Rotterdam. We are booked on this cruise.

We are booked on this cruise. We were on the Noordam at the time the news broke about the cancelled charter. We were told only Noordam was affected and that Westerdam was still going to SA. From what you are saying that is only partly true and that the Westerdam charter was just a cruise to SA and a cruise back. Is that the cruise you are on on the 12th - Cape Town to Rotterdam? Is this still a charter with the original company?
trvlcrzy Posted June 21, 2010 #7 Share Posted June 21, 2010 Our source has been in direct contact with her HAL source for the original locations (for the year) and cannot get an update on the position for either ship (Noordam or Westerdam). The daily report has not been changed because we can get no confirmation from HAL that the Westerdam's charter was cancelled. Speculation on my part... HAL may not be releasing information about the Westerdam's cancellation in order to avoid damaging the reputation of the charter company for having TWO cancelled charters for this same time period. Either way, I'm sure that SOMEone is paying for HAL's time out-of-service... and the ship's will return to service officially on July 26 sailings (from Barcelona and Rotterdam). I'm not doubting Knysna's reports. In fact, that information was passed to our source... with no additional information forthcoming from HAL. Sorry, it is frustrating for all who are interested in the locations! Either way, it will settle itself out when the charter's time period is over. Knysna Posted June 21, 2010 #8 Share Posted June 21, 2010 Thanks trvlcrzy, now I am in the picture! We are just excited about our cruise on the Westerdam from Cape Town to Rotterdam. As far as I have heard it is partly a wellness cruise as well which was marketed to the German market. The other half was sold here in SA as a normal cruise.
