Days at sea....

Looking at future cruises, it seems that most are offering only one day at sea(2 including the round trip).....those were really our favorite days on our last cruise!!! Whats up with this.....to save fuel costs???? A cruise to nowhere would be nice but always would like to go "somewhere".

I totally agree with you, I keep hoping for as many sea days as port days. I'm on vacation, and though I love going to a port, I hate that feeling of needing to discover everything all at once, get back to the ship on time and then get up at the crack of dawn to do it over...Next cruise has 3 days like that, and I figure HMC will be as relaxing and beautiful as a sea day....can't wait.

Have looked into the Pride and her itinerary in Bermuda...has anyone done it? Comments? Not a hijack, I thing the OP would also like to know :)

We too like sea days. Here are a few ideas for you.

A Miracle cruise in the March time frame. 8 day cruise, 3 islands, 4 sea days.

A Dream cruise around May. 7 day cruise, 3 islands, 3 sea days.

A Liberty cruise around May. 7 day cruise, 4 islands, 2 sea days

I too agree. In fact, the ship is the destination for us, and I don't care too much where it goes. One of my favorites is the "Miracle" out of Ft. Lauderdale. That's an 8 day, with four sea days! Totally relaxing, and really, really a nice cruise. The ports it does hit, are ports that you don't normally see. St. Lucia, St. Kitts, and St. Maarten. GREAT cruise, with total relaxation. ;)

I think it is only the san juan originating cruises that are basically all port days.

We took the Freedom in feb and it had 4 sea and 3 port days on our 8 day cruises. Miracle will do the same.

A balance is what we like.

I prefer the sea days too, but do like a couple port stops as well.

We are sailing on the Freedom in January, which has 4 sea days and 3 ports. Can't wait.

We took a short 4-day cruise on the Inspiration out of Tampa with 2 sea days and 1 port (Cozumel). That was very relaxing.

We love both the sea days and the port days (though DH doesn't really care about the ports--he hasn't even gotten off the ship our last two cruises--DD and I visited the ports while he relaxed on a near-empty ship :)).

On our upcoming cruise we have two sea days followed by three port days followed by one sea day. For me, it would be perfect to have them every other one--sea, port, sea, port. That would be heaven! :)

I thought the 4 sea days on our last cruise were just too many- there just wasn't enough to do on the ship...

But- if sea days are your favorite- why not just not get off the ship when it docks? Then it's a sea day without the crowds. Plus the spa has specials. Of course, if the casino is why you like sea days, then it won't work.

We usually stay on board our ship. We are not beach people and I have trouble walking so we usually just enjoy our balcony or a leisurely buffet without crowds. Our next cruise is our third Legend cruise when I will definitely stay put and then we have a February cruise on the Miracle which has 3 sea days. Heaven!!!

We love the sea days, and will not choose an itinerary with too many port days.

Hawaii is a good cruise for the sea days, since once you leave the islands, you'll have several sea days in a row. And you'll need them to recover from all of the port days in a row.

Our best cruise was on Celebrity: flew to Hawaii, sailed the Hawaiian islands, sailed to Tahiti, then New Zealand. Many sea days with awesome ports in between. Best Ever!!

I really like sea days, but I like to see "new" ports too, and some "old" ones. At this point in time, I have been most of Carnival's ports and the only one that I absolutely love to go back to is Cozumel, with St Thomas and St Maarten close behind. So my next cruise on the Freedom in September is a good one for me. I get to go back to Cozumel, yet get to see Costa Rica and Panama. It is an 8 day cruise, so I also get 4 days at sea.:)

We loved that cruise, too!:D

We also usually take another sea day in ports we've been to again and again, or live there, like Key West.:)

Our Hawaii cruise in September is 12 days. Starts with 7 port days and then 5 sea days. The day of embarkation is actually 2 days at that port and our last port is 2 days in Maui. So we get 5 islands but still 5 sea days at the end to rest up. I love the sea days.

On my first cruise, I really enjoyed the days at sea. I only got off the ship in one port (St. Thomas). In April I booked the Dream Eastern Caribbean (April 24, 2010 - May 1, 2010) because it provided three days at sea. On this cruise I got off at every port and found that I liked it. I also found that I was getting antsy to get off the ship too. I still would prefer at least two days at sea and one of those days being the last day of the cruise. It gives you a chance to relax before having to deal the semi-nightmare of air travel. :)
