CruzinNoony Posted June 24, 2010 #1 Share Posted June 24, 2010 We will be in Sydney next February for three nights before sailing on the Sun Princess. Our ship sails out of Darling Harbour. We would like to get a hotel near one of the ho ho stops. Any recommendations for a reasonably priced hotel near a stop? Should we look for a hotel near Darling Harbour or closer to the Opera House area?:)
moyaroo Posted June 24, 2010 #2 Share Posted June 24, 2010 It is somewhat a matter of preference. We have always stayed in the Circular Quay/Rocks area and like it very much. We have been to Darling Harbour area, just like the other better,
aussiegirl Posted June 25, 2010 #3 Share Posted June 25, 2010 I've stayed in many hotels in both the Circular Quay/Rocks area and at Darling Harbour. I think both are good for different reasons, so you probably can't go wrong with either. Any particular reason you want to be near a HOHO stop? CruzinNoony Posted June 25, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted June 25, 2010 AussieGirl-We were thinking of using the ho-ho as a way to get around and see the sights, so thought it would be more convenient. The things we are interested in doing are: Opera House tour, bridge climb, harbour cruise, and perhaps going to the Shangri-La Hotel for the view from the 36th floor. Where would you recommend that we stay for these activities?
sandandsea lovers Posted June 26, 2010 #5 Share Posted June 26, 2010 Why not stay at the Shangri-La then? We did and I thought it was the best position, you can walk to the bridge, opera house, ferries, shops, restaurants, circular quay and darling harbour. Lirio Posted June 26, 2010 #6 Share Posted June 26, 2010 I stayed in Novotel Menzies which was very convinient close to everything incluiding the ho-ho.

aussiegirl Posted June 27, 2010 #8 Share Posted June 27, 2010 I agree with Globaliser. Based on what you want to see, your best bet would be to find a hotel in The Rocks/Circular Quay area and just walk. Sydney is a very easy city for walking. Grumpy100 Posted June 27, 2010 #9 Share Posted June 27, 2010 We stayed at the Four Points Sheraton at Darling Harbor. Good location and closer than the Rocks and Circular Quay from where the ship docks.:o
