Pacific Dawn Refurb Photos?

Recommended Posts

I've seen some somewhere? I also have some, however, I do not have time to find out how to post them yet as we are sorting out surgery for my DH, who finished his cruise with a bang on those damn steps on the way to Customs. Hopefully someone else has some.

Is the surgery due to the fall your DH had at the end of the cruise? I hope it goes well for him.

Thanks, yes it was! He twisted his ankle on those narrow steps - there was a crowd waiting for the lifts - and had to be wheelchaired out. It's a long story, but found yesterday he had ruptured the achilles tendon. Because it's been left so long it has started to retract and will take more to repair. Thank goodness for travel insurance!

Ouch, very painful. If the stairs are so narrow, maybe you should consider seeking legal advice. That building isn't very old, and the stairs shouldn't be narrow.

Has your travel insurance tried to get you claim through Medicare and private health insurance (if you have it)?

We're looking into that now. There are lots of ifs and buts.

Yes there is always plenty of them, and when it comes to legals, there is heaps of them. Good luck!! If the stairs were narrow, how did they get away with it, now that there is such strict building codes. The stair tread should have had depth of 250mm.

Thanks for the interest and good wishes, people. We enjoyed our cruise, Jenny. It happened on the way out, thankfully. (What some people will do to get through Customs quickly :D)

Glad you mentioned the depth of the stairs Aus family - 250mm eh? He reckons if they were built to regulation it was to the bare minimum. I know they are steep to go up -whew.

He has surgery on Thursday, but full recovery takes about 12 weeks on crutches - 6 in plaster and 6 without, but physio etc.

those stairs at port side are a pain for elderly as I have seen people line up for the lift many times. I have heard many people complain about them to staff as well.

Hi Everyone, If you are interested in seeing the Pacific Dawn Refurb Photos they are on FaceBook. If you sign in and search for Pacific Dawn and click that you like them you can have a look at the photos on their profile. I will be experiencing my 1st cruise adventure on the Pacific Dawn starting September 4th so I will watch the stairs. Good luck with the surgery.

Thanks Wobbliebutt  (love your username). Yes DO be careful on those stairs! The ones after you go through Customs on the way to boarding.

As far as we know the surgery went well. (Through the anaesthetic haze he thinks someone said it did.) He sees the specialist again on Tuesday.
