What is the weather and seas like mid Oct?

You really need to be specific. What seas and what ports of call. Just like the weather can vary in different parts of Canada the same is true in different areas of the Mediterranean and different parts of Italy.

We've done three different Med itineraries over the past three years in late November (not October). As Keith explained it varies greatly from area to area.

Weather.com (or other similar sites) can give you the average temperature for different cities for different months of the year. Generally the further north and west you are the cooler and greater chance of rain you will have at that time of year. South and east tend to be warmer and drier (pretty much any time of the year).

We did a similar cruise on Voyager on the last week of October 2 years ago. The weather in the last week was very mixed - some nice hot sunny days, some cool and rainy. However, I'd been keeping an eye on the weather in the weeks leading up to the cruise and it had been mostly very nice - warm and sunny - in the middle of October.

The seas in the Med tend to be quite calm anyway but you may find it a little 'bouncy' sailing back up to Barcelona - for some reason (presumably wind direction?) that leg often gets a less smooth ride.
