Cruise Lover26 Posted July 18, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 18, 2010 Has anyone used the magic jack while on a cruise? If so could you please supply some feed back. How was the reception?;)
joandian Posted July 18, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 18, 2010 I've not tried it but not sure how well it would work. The internet connection is slow and is expensive.
Richiebaseball Posted July 18, 2010 #3 Share Posted July 18, 2010 I have used MagicJack in the past with Celebrity. The quality was okay. About a one second delay. The last time I was on a Royal Caribbean ship just a couple of months ago, MagicJack appeared to be blocked so it's possible that could be the case on Celebrity now as well. That is totally absurd! If you've purchased an internet package, you should be able to use the internet for ANYTHING you choose.... including a phone! Royal Caribbean is such a money-grabbing cruise line!:confused::mad:

Howlin Walker Posted July 19, 2010 #8 Share Posted July 19, 2010 Things like skype that take too much bandwidth are not allowed, AFAIK My husband was just on the Solstice, and he Skyped home from his laptop in the cabin several times. The connection was decent (lost him a few times, but no more than when he'd take the computer into the port and Skype from there...) He never heard that it wasn't allowed... I plan to Skype when I'm onboard in a couple of weeks! The only difficulty I found was being near the computer when the call comes in - unless you've prearranged a time, you may miss it. -Nancy
