Nana G Posted July 18, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 18, 2010 We are Princess Elite cruisers travelling Celebrity after 20 years!!!! We saw the Solstice at port and fell in love with the way it looked. Soooo, we took the plunge and booked S1 cabin. A little apprehensive about switching lines. How will we compare? Thank you Celebrity fans!! Rare GeorgiaPeach51 Posted July 18, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 18, 2010 We have a bunch of Princess cruises, so can give you a pretty good comparison, having just had a fantastic cruise on the Equinox...sister ship to Solstice. I think you will love the following things, based on our experiences with both lines. 1. Beds are much more comfortable. 2. On Solstice, fewer passengers, more space. Feels very uncrowded. 3. Easy to follow, intuitive layout on Solstice. 4. Layout of the "lido" is much less congested due to the stations arrangement rather than a linear arrangement. 5. Welcome aboard champagne/juice. 6. Cold water, towels as you board after a long, hot port day. 7. Lack of smoking issues. Being able to be in the casino or anywhere else with no smoking around you. Of course, not everyone loves that, depending on whether or not you smoke. 8. Bathroom layout is the best we've had. 9. Big mugs in the "lido" for coffee, not just little cups. 10. Umbrella in your cabin to use in port. 11. Actual wood balcony furniture, not plastic. There's probably a jillion other things...that's just what comes to mind. We absolutely loved Celebrity. A step up, in our opinion. I think you will love it. Write a review when you return so we can hear about it!
seacruise9 Posted July 18, 2010 #3 Share Posted July 18, 2010 Hi, I have done many cruises, including six cruises with Princess and five cruises with Celebrity. I cruised aboard the Celebrity Solstice in late May and loved the ship! The ship is gorgeous and the food and service were excellent. I was very pleased with this ship. You will have a great time. BizDoc Posted July 18, 2010 #4 Share Posted July 18, 2010 The premium beverage package. Nothing else needs to be said about this magnificient vacation treat. Where else can one enjoy bloody marys, boddingtons, wine, cognac and mudslides without worryimg about the bill at the end of the day.
Nana G Posted July 19, 2010 Author #5 Share Posted July 19, 2010 Thanks to all for the great tips! We look forward to our Solstice cruise. Especially thanks to Georgia Peach for the comparison to Princess. So glad to hear you see it as a step up. It is scarey to leave the "Princess comfort zone" but, change is good. Thanks again.
