BAYA Posted July 18, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 18, 2010 We have three cabins booked for a family cruise on NA in March 2011. I would like anyone who has sailed on her to please tell me--do the pools have only straight up ladders to get out of the pool? Or do either of the two pools have a "staircase" to enter and exit the pool? We have family members who have an inability to pull themselves up a vertical ladder to get out of the pool. I truly loved reading several reviews and reports of the inaugural sailing and can't wait to get onboard! Thanks to whomever can answer my question! Cheers, Barbara
Krazy Kruizers Posted July 18, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 18, 2010 There are no "staircases" to get out of any pool on any HAL ship. I used to see a "lift" on some of the ships that could be placed by the pool by the crew to "lift" people in and out of the Lido pool -- but I haven't seen this lift on any ships recently. sail7seas Posted July 18, 2010 #3 Share Posted July 18, 2010 I have heard of this 'lift' but truly do not recall ever seeing one on any of the ships and we've sailed most of them.
djhsolara Posted July 19, 2010 #4 Share Posted July 19, 2010 I do remember seeing this lift at the Lido pool on Eurodam.
Rare kazu Posted July 19, 2010 #5 Share Posted July 19, 2010 If the lift is on the Eurodam, it may be on the Nieuw Amsterdam Might be a good question for DBA? (Dutch by Association). He is very helpful:):)

He is very helpful:):) Thanks for the responses. I was afraid that was the answer--no staircases. I also posted this question on Dutch's "live from Nieuw Amsterdam" thread. Maybe he'll see it, but the thread is over since he's back home now. Have a great day, and a great next cruise:) Barbara

scottjeanne Posted July 19, 2010 #8 Share Posted July 19, 2010 We just returned from Nieuw Amsterdam's inaugural. There are only ladders, no stairs in the two pools-aft and lido.

Last November there was a lift on the Ryndam/ Lido Pool. Rich
