CLMCLEOD Posted July 20, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 20, 2010 My husband is making me ask this...Does NCL use Heinz ketchup? He'll transport his own damn ketchup if he gets a "no" answer...puleeeease...
SnootieTootie Posted July 20, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 20, 2010 I don't remember what kind of ketchup they have, but your question made me smile. :) I do remember that they have Heinz 57 sauce on the table in the garden buffet, so I would think that the ketchup would be heinz as well. dbcnwa Posted July 20, 2010 #6 Share Posted July 20, 2010 I remember the Heinz from my last NCL cruise, so tell your husband to leave his supply at home (plus, you never know if NCL will charge you a "corkage fee" for bringing your own) :D

muttley Posted July 20, 2010 #10 Share Posted July 20, 2010 yes it is heinz. i wish they used hunt's or many of the generic brands because heinz advertises and does use much more vinegar than most brands and i think it is too much. your hubby probably doesn't like the sweet stuff made with crappy corn syrup. garycarla Posted July 20, 2010 #14 Share Posted July 20, 2010 Not a stupid question at all, but, next time try to be more descriptive in the subject line. "stupid question" not required! As to ketchup - what they served last week is not always a guarentee they will serve it next week. I am guessing they really don't care what brand they have and could switch on a moments notice. tgptmp Posted July 20, 2010 #15 Share Posted July 20, 2010 I used to be a loyal Heinz man. But I could not stand the thought of supporting John Kerry with one more penny. Then I discovered Red Gold-----just as good.

ailuro Posted July 20, 2010 #17 Share Posted July 20, 2010 It was Heinz in the buffet on the Star last week. A distinct lack of mayo everywhere though.
time2cruise1 Posted July 20, 2010 #18 Share Posted July 20, 2010 To answer your question it has be Heinz on every NCL cruise I have been on since 2004. If you look closely at the picture you will see the set up basket in the Epic Garden Cafe with Heinz products.
bplazo Posted July 20, 2010 #19 Share Posted July 20, 2010 You really cannot be sure that it is Heinz. They may fill the ketchup bottles with a different brand even though the bottle says Heinz.

This is exactly why I like Heinz. I actually prefer the Heinz Organic ketchup. It has less sugar. I find most other brands taste like sweet tomato sauce. Kuleiros Posted July 20, 2010 #22 Share Posted July 20, 2010 I don't think it's a strange question at all - I also MUCH prefer Heinz ketchup (although I will use other brands if I HAVE to), and French's yellow mustard (I will NOT use anything BUT that - will do w/o rather than resort to that). Cracking up at the "corkage and rippage fees" - thanx for the laughs!! :)
Barb Nahoumi Posted July 20, 2010 #23 Share Posted July 20, 2010 When I asked for ketchup for my steak, they brought it in a little dish. Proper atmosphere, you know. Heinz is all we buy at home.

Think high-fructose corn syrup. This is not the first ketchup thread that CC has had. It is pretty amazing that ketchup could be a deal-breaker. My last two cruises I didn't eat anything that might have gotten ketchup. It is really hard to believe that this could be a problem. I mean, there are federal rules for ketchup. It's a pretty limited recipe.
