Does anyone like oceanview cabins?

OV will always be my FIRST choice. On our May Liberty cruise, it was so hot and humid outside, that when we would get back from an excursion, I just wanted to curl up in the air conditioning. I honestly don't think I would have gone out on a balcony much, but my Mom and I would take turns curling up in the window and watch the world go by. That is where we even watched as we sailed away from Miami. If I wanted quiet outside time, I would go to deck 3, which always seemed to have some nice lounge chairs.

We had an OV on our Valor cruise last year, (our first cruise). It was great, #1461, all the way to the rear. Great views all week! I booked a Balcony for our Liberty cruise this year, due to a great price. So, I will have to compare and make a choice for the next cruise from that.:)

It seems it is book a balcony or just stay home. We have an OV- C booked on the Liberty and I am getting cold feet. IS there anyone out there with a good word for Oceanviews? I thought they were bigger..more space.

An OV is the only cabin I book. when I first started cruising, I booked an inside cabin a couple of times, but decided the window was SO worth the extra money.

I'm sure I'd love a balcony cabin, but I'd have to sacrifice something major to be able to afford it - like taking shorter cruises or giving up shore excursions. It's just not worth it to me.

I also book on the lower decks, deck 2 or 3. They cost less, but are exactly the same as those on upper decks. I may have to go farther to get to the pool, but I'm closer to the main dining room and the gang way on port days! The view out my window is still great!

I have no problem with OV cabins. Same size as a balcony but seem much bigger because you don't have to keep space open to get outside.

While I book balcony cabins as a preference, last year I needed a quick getaway & booked the Triumph 2 days before sail date...and they only had 3 cabins available on the ship, and they were all OV's.

My OV on the Triumph was really a very nice cabin. It was fairly large and had plenty of storage, etc., and the window! I wouldn't NOT book a cruise I wanted to go on simply because there wasn't a balcony.

We've cruised 3 times. First time was a balcony. Second and third were OVs and we enjoyed them nearly as much as a balcony. If it meant being able to cruise or not cruise depending on a balcony or OV I would choose to cruise with an Ocean View. You really will love it. No worries... now be happy! :D

............This year we spend 15 days in an ocean view on the Elation panama canal repositioning cruise. We had a great time. Spent much more time on lido deck then when we have a balcony. We do enjoy the fresh air when you have a balcony, But not a deal breaker.

Hi Sir Winston, some of us from the Panama trip have now booked the Apr 13, 2012 Hawaii San Diego return. Are you looking at doing this one?

I have an inside room on this one, all five 1As went asap and then I had to pay 200% for a 4A. Gurrrr So, no port holes, nothing. If the sea is rough I will be in a stable position anyway.

Our 1st cruise was in an OV and I thought it was great. We were given a free upgrade on our 2nd cruise from an OV to Balcony. I'll cruise in less than a balcony. I spend a lot of time on the balcony reading and listening to the ocean. My DH & I aren't that big into socializing, so the balcony makes the cruise that much more enjoyable for us.

I was pleasantly suprised at hom much I enjoyed our OV room on our recent Conquest Sailing.

For our first cruise we got an upgrade from an inside room to a partial blocked Balcony and we instantly fell in love. For our cruise last year, it was just the wife and I so we had a balcony and loved it.

But for our most recent cruise this last may we had our three kids plus our nephew so it was a total of 6 so we got connecting OV rooms (6C) on the conquest and I must say they were GREAT rooms for families.

I was concerned that if we got a balcony this time around my 4 yr old son would climb up on a chair to look over the balcony rail and fall overboard (ridiculous I know, buy hey I'm a parent) so we "settled" for OV and I was just as happy if not happier. The large windows had a little area the kids would sit on and just stare out into the ocean, we had natural light coming in and it was indeed rommier then our previous balcony cabins. One of my daughters favorite places would be to sit and stare out into the ocean while everyone was getting ready etc... Cartoons could be on and she could've cared less. One of those priceless moments you treasure as a parent for the rest of your life.

I left that cruise thinking that OV rooms are a great family deal and would book them in a heartbeat.

I have been on several cruises. I like the Balcony or suite best, But an ocean view is still a good room on Carnival. I book an inside cabin once and would not do that again. I like to see the outside. We are booked on Carnival Fantasy in March 2011 and they only have OV or suites, so we booked an OV on the upper deck mid ship. I don't spend alot of time in my room anyway. Just go and enjoy the cruise.

I have had insides with upper and lower berths(bunk beds), small cabins with small 10 inch portholes, balcony cabins, Aft wrap suites, Penthouse Suites and several outside cabins. I have fun no matter what. Depends on the ship and the budget. This year we spend 15 days in an ocean view on the Elation panama canal repositioning cruise. We had a great time. Spent much more time on lido deck then when we have a balcony. We do enjoy the fresh air when you have a balcony, But not a deal breaker.

Hey Tom! How the heck are ya?? :)

OP, we've only been in OV's. On our upcoming, we booked an inside because there was a big difference in price when we booked...however, we caught a bargain on an OV & we're back! I was curious to see how I'd like the inside, but I guess not curious enough!:p

I'd like to have a balcony one day, but I do love the OV. And since our last cruise had some pretty bad weather, I was glad not to have spent the extra $ on a balcony.

We love OV Cabins!:D

We booked a Balcony Cabin once. It was nice. Our friends were next to us. We sat out there at night. That was fun.

If we're not going with anybody else, we will stick with the OV's.

I know most people say, once you book a Balcony, you won't go with anything else. Not true with us!

We just got off Miracle, where we had an oceanview. It is not the largest cabin I have been in, but it was fine. The view was great, completely unobstructed. Of course, if we had been traveling with others, such as a child or two, it would have been a bit tight, but for the two of us it was fine. Lots of closet space. Also on the upside, it was only 1 deck up to the dining room, casino, theater, or 1 deck down to disembark at destinations.

Frankly, we are in the cabins so little of the time--only to sleep, and change clothes, that it really doesn't matter to us....

Ocean View, Veranda, or inside....

The few times we've had a Veranda, while it was nice, we really didn't spend all that much time enjoying it much as we tend to be pretty social and had other things going on....

I couldn't stay in a room without a balcony. Actually on Carnival I have only been in a suite with the balcony about double the size of the regular one. As we got on our first Carnival ship my daughter who was 12 saw the regular balconies from the outside and she said they have to be kidding mom thats too small for anyone. She was excited when we she saw ours was much bigger and had chairs you could lay down on in addition to the others.

One of our dinner mates was disapointed she had an oceanview on a previous carnival cruise and was travelling with her and two kids. This time she had a balcony and complained the room was much smaller. It's really a matter of personal preference.

I spend a decent amount of time in my room many people say they only sleep there. Everyone is different and has to book what they like best. I hear inners are bigger then the balcony room too. That I don't understand how people could stay in but again to each his or her own.

We're just off the Conquest. First time...4th cruise. Always have ocean view. The cabin was very large and roomy. I had a friend in a balcony. It was alittle smaller, but way too hot to use the balcony during the day...only at night. Now...when we go to Alaska...that's a different story!

Happy Cruisin'!!

My preference is for the balcony, but I do the OV on the ships that don't have them (except the suites), like the Paradise.

Same problem for us on Fantasy! Pick a suite or an OV.

Some of the suites have what they call "obstructed views" which we really don't want.

At this point we're booked OV. Like being able to easily walk outside but while we normally have a balcony that's about all we use it to do -- walk outside at our convenience for a few minutes.

It's only for seven days over Thanksgiving so are willing to give the OV a try. Hope we haven't made the wrong decision. Your thoughts on this would be appreciated.

I have done all three IS,OV OB. I decide on the price. I love both OV OB but has someone else says I do spend too much time on my balcony and miss some of the excitement going on. I have book an ov for March 2011 on the Fantasy and looking forward to the cruise. Just go and enjoy
