Pride from Baltimore - rough waters in Jan?

If you had someone prone to motion sickness, would it be a bad idea to cruise from Baltimore in Jan or Feb? It's a smaller ship that others we've been on. And I realize cooler waters means more movement. Has anyone cruised from Baltimore that time of year? What was your experience? Thanks!!!

Fundamentally yes it can be rougher. It is not the size of the ship that really matters but its design and engineering.

 

That said, you will be on the Atlantic Ocean in January. Winter storms.

There is always the chance for rough seas but that is true even sailing from Miami or Fort Lauderdale.

 

I always recommend trying to get a cabin that is mid ship or at least not very far forward and on a lower deck as possible and to bring something to help prevent motion sickness.

Actually the chances for high seas are greater during hurricane season (June through November) than in the winter months. You can have rough water any time --but you also can have flat calm all the way south in January and February. Go for it - book a cabin on a low deck, as close to midships as possible to minimize movement -- eat a little ginger --- and remind yourself that seasickness is not automatic -- it is at least partially self-induced: if you convince yourself that you will have a problem, you probably will - if you convince yourself that you wont, you will probably be fine.
