It sounds like you had a great time... all in all... and I have been on 2 other cruises and each time I have seen some people who maybe should of stopped drinking lol... and I have taken my sons (who were 18 and 14 at the time) on a cruise during spring break and there were a lot of younger people on the cruise and they were loud and some were acting like they have never been out before.... we just avoided them.... and we had a great time regardless... Excellent review - just a couple of questions:

 

1) did you attend or were you aware of the 'farewell party' - last night - free drinks? (I don't think it is well 'advertised)

 

2) Does the Destiny have the adults only Serenity area?

I was not aware of any farewell party, but I admit that I was a little more than toasted and would not have attended if there was one.:p

 

There is no adult only area on the ship. I *think* two of the hot tubs were adult only but I saw kids using them. Also, the casino is supposed to be adults only but I saw tons of kids in there with their parents...some even sleeping on the couches over on the side.

How fun to read your review--loved your enthusiasm!! We've never done that itinerary or sailed on the Destiny, but now that our cruise (Aug 22 on the Splendor to the Mexican Riviera) is so close, I find myself reading just about any review of any ship on any itinerary! :D Yours was especially enjoyable. Thanks for taking the time to post it!

We were able to start boarding around 11am and then headed up to the Lido deck for lunch. The lines were a tad bit long but no big deal.

Great review.

 

After lunch, we headed out to the deck to see the incredible view of Miami. I was just in awe of how sprawling the city is. I'm a small town girl and our biggest city in the state is Columbia. It has NOTHING on Miami!

 

 

The doors opened at 1:30 on the dot and we were able to check out our cabin. We had balcony cabin #9198 and we LOVED the location! Even though we were thisclose to the outside Lido area, we didn't hear a whole lot of noise while in our cabin.

 

 

 

 

After checking out our cabin, we decided to explore the ship! Being our first cruise, we had nothing to compare it to but she is beautiful! She is extremely clean and we saw nothing broken or run down looking at all.

 

We found our dining room, which took a lot of effort. We had to go down a few floors, walk to the back of the ship and then go up a floor. It was confusing, but we got the hang of things by the end of the cruise. Go figure!:p

 

Great review. Not only are we sailing the Destiny on 9/6 but we are in the exact same cabin.

Your experience on Destiny sounded so very similar to ours a couple months ago. Overall a great cruise with a few less than stellar observations but not enough to keep it from still being a great time!

 

The xrail thing looked like a ton of fun, will have to keep that excursion in the back of my mind as a future possibility!

I was on this same cruise last year and will be on it again for Halloween

but

 

we were in Key West on Friday and in Coz Sat, sun was a day at sea

 

now...your review the ports seem different, day at sea, coz then key west??

 

I am confused...?? Were the ports switched for your sailing?? any reason given or ??

 

and...do you have the "fun times" papers to scan in please?? thanks

Yes, we were supposed to be in Key West on Friday but because of TS Bonnie, our itinerary was switched. I do have every Fun Time and will scan them later today for you.:)

I was on this cruise, and the ports were switched because there was a tropical storm heading towards Key West. Friday was a sea day, Saturday we went to Cozumel from 7:30-4:00, and Sunday we were at Key West from 12:30-8:00.

great review!! i am on the destiny with a bunch of girls for our annual girl trip...:D the only problem we are in key west from 7:00 am till 2:00 - those times arent too good for key west... but we can always get some bloody marys or mimosas........:D

I have been on Carnival Valor and I loved the ship!!! The food was great there!!! I am a lover of foods so that is a big thing for me.

 

I have booked on the Destiny on August 8, 2011. It will be a 5 day cruise with my family and friends for my moms birthday. I wanted a balcony suite on the lido deck to give her the ultimate in cruising experiences, since only me and 1 other person out of a group of 22 people have been on cruises before, and bc I wanted to be near the buffett:D.
