..I still prefer the Conquest ships.:)

This was our fifth Carnival Cruise. We've sailed the Glory, Liberty, Freedom and Legend before this. I guess we're more 'used to' the layout of the other ships.

Don't get me wrong though. We had a WONDERFUL time, and are re booked for the Dream again! We just missed the fish n' chips bar (didn't really dine much at the pasta bar.) I also like the promenade on the other ships.

Does anyone else prefer the Conquest class?

I haven't been on the Dream yet, but I have hit every other class. I prefer the Conquest over the rest. I don't get all the love for the Spirit Class although I have only done Alaska on one. I am eager to see if I will like that class better in a more tropical setting. I like the Fantasy class a lot as well.

Definitely do! Except for the uniqueness of the cove balcony, we don't plan on any additional cruise on The Dream. I expect The Magic to just be a carbon copy.

I agree, Conquest is better for us.

Balcony cabins on decks 7, 8 and 9 are not as good on the Dream class ships, with the new design of deck 5 partially blocking the view of the water, and taking away privacy, that we use to enjoy with our balcony. I also like a nice dark night to look at the moon and stars, without deck 5 lights reflecting all night long.

Plus, it looks like the Dream and Magic have found a way to add more people, but not more pools.

Just got back from the same cruise and I would NOT sail the Dream again. Too many people with not enough workers and the staff, besides Marjon our head waiter and our two Asst. waiters, Maria and Zane, didn't seem to like their job and were not pleasant at all. I don't think I will be writing a review of this ship.

Spirit class ships are great. Everything is close by, the ship is easier to navigate around and there aren't very many long lines. When tendering it is easier and quicker to get off the ship as well. Love the Miracle and will find out about the DREAM in Nov.

Totally agree!!!!! The pools were totally packed on sea days. Two pools (actual pool itself) the size of 1/4 my backyard (I have a small backyard)for 4600 passengers, What were they thinking??

Nope, I do not like the Conquest class...don't get me wrong, sailing on any cruiseship beats being at work but I LOVE the Spirit class ships! Layout is much easier to navigate, the aft pool area is adults only AND open not enclosed, fewer people, less lines.

Just my 2 cents. :)

I haven't been on the Dream (yet) but I don't quite understand the disconnect between liking Conquest ships but not the new Dream class. I would think that if you like one, you'll like the other, and if you don't like the Conquest layout, you won't like the Dream either.

I've only sailed on the Glory (twice) but I already know I pretty much know my way around the Dream. Not that much is different, is there? The path through the Casino is a little different, and the Ocean Plaza + Lanai is a different setup, the middle pool doesn't have the 'stadium' look, but other than that they're almost the same, right?

I'll take the Fantasy class first with the Conquest class next. Then the Destiny class and then Spirit class.....Bringing up the rear is the Dream class. Really didn't care for the layout in many ways of the Dream....

I've sailed Spirit Class, Conquest Class and The Dream.

Each has it's own plusses and minuses.

The Spirit Class has more passenger to space ratio. It has a promenade that encircles the entire Ship.

But it lacks Seaside Theatres and Bigger Waterslides.

Conquest has the Seaside Theatres, But has that "up and over" Mid-Ship Galley design.

The Dream has the Lanai, But as mentioned, that takes from the privacy of the Balcony rooms.

For the most part, all the Staterooms are similiar on all these Ships.

And all these Ships still have the view-blocking pillars in the Main Theatres !

Momofmatt, hi! I remember meeting you at the cruise meets! I didn't stick around outside too long because the sun was at its peak, LOL. The Mardi Gras beads were fun!:)

Haha...sounds like we had the same experience! Pool size was ridiculously small compared to the amount of passengers for this ship! I agree with markstudy, as well...balcony overlooked decks and flourescent lighting instead of the ocean. No privacy or great view. Not much of a complainer when it comes to cruises, but this ship was definitely the worst layout I have ever seen. Also, I didn't listen to other cruisers, but sewage odor all week on deck 8, including in our room. Wished we had a better experience, but we still had fun. Oh well, next cruise will not be the Dream...we have also been on Liberty and loved it! It was great meeting you and your family, though! I will fb you soon!

Our Dream experience: We didn't get into our cabin until 3:00 in the morning. Our cabin reeked of vomit, because it wasn't properly cleaned from the previous cruise.

The drawers of the couch were taken out and put on our balcony (making it impossible to use the balcony). Maintenance wanted to put the entire couch on the balcony, and argued with Guest Relations who refused to do so (GR wanted to solve the problem, maintenance had their own "opinion").

They replaced the couch with 2 tiny chairs from the casino. My husband looked like he was in time out when he sat in the chair to have his coffee.

The pools were small, and we were shoulder-to-shoulder with people when we tried to take a dip to cool off.

Children were everywhere, often unattended. Adolescents played slot machines, no one stopped them. Adolescents had alcoholic drinks, no one stopped them. Children were on Serenity, no one stopped them.

And given all of this, I would give anything to be on the Dream right now!! :) :) :)

It was great meeting all of your family also. I smelled the sewage smell BAD in the bathroom off the Burgandy lounge on deck 4. Periodically thoughout the ship but not bad. I was on the Freedom, I think it is the same as the Liberty and I too had a great cruise. Don is already checking new cruises for next summer. I would much rather look into New Years cruise. I need to enjoy my next cruise much more than this one. With all the things that went wrong from 1. they didn't put our group of 7 at the same table so we had to switch to the mytime dining (which turned out great because we had an AWESOME wait staff) 2. Cave tubing got cancelled due to 8 inches of rain in Belize 3. Didn't go to the beach that we paid for due to thunderstorms and then later hear that a lot still went and had a GREAT time (I was so bummed that we didn't go anyway) Anyway enough of my complaining. I will FB you right after I read CC. Chat with you soon.

For me it's the Spirt Class, I dont like how you cant look straight down to the water from you balcony on the Dream.

I love the Glory !!! Or course I have only been on her and the Fantasy...which I also loved. So...to be fair..I think I just love cruising :D Will be on the Fascination and the Miracle soon.. one another Fantasy class and the other a Spirit class...so more to compare. Think it will still be the same though....I just love cruising !!

My favorite has to be the Spirit class but that is because it was our first cruise. I really don't dislike any of the ships I have been on, the Dream is in 47 days and the Destiny is in March/April. I will then have those 2 classes of ships under my belt. I will report in my review of the Dream my impressions of the layout and ship in general.
