beth555 Posted August 1, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 1, 2010 We will be in Bermuda for 3 days, the first day we are taking a snorlkling trip with rising son. With 2 days left we want to spend our morning and early afternoon at the beaches. One day we will definatly visit Horseshoe Bay but should we do both days there or visit another beach. Maybe Tobbacco bay or Clearwater. It seems that everyone says Horseshoe is the best so I wonder if we should just spend both days there.
family cruisers Posted August 1, 2010 #2 Share Posted August 1, 2010 While docked in hamilton we plan on going to horseshoe for 2 days. Been there, done that and are doing it again. So well worth it. Picture perfect beach with bathrooms, concessions, chair rentals etc.. While in St.George we're thinking of going to Clearwater but will decide when we get there. Enjoy your stay. SailBadtheSinner Posted August 1, 2010 #3 Share Posted August 1, 2010 beth555 asked: ....should we try another beach?..... You could take the bus or taxi to Horseshoe Bay. While there, you could follow the paths that connect these beaches: Horseshoe Bay Beach (has facilities), Chaplin Bay, Stonehole Bay, Jobson's Cove , and Warwick Long Bay. (has very basic bathrooms). Walk with your right side to the water and you will eventually see the paths at the northeast end of HSB. Rare Keith1010 Posted August 2, 2010 #4 Share Posted August 2, 2010 I think Horseshoe Bay Beach is one of the nicest ones I have been to around the world. I would consider going there both days. Keith
family cruisers Posted August 2, 2010 #5 Share Posted August 2, 2010 You;ll need good water shoes to climb through some of those rocks. It's so worth it though. Great pictures :-) beth555 asked: ....should we try another beach?..... You could take the bus or taxi to Horseshoe Bay. Rare Keith1010 Posted August 5, 2010 #6 Share Posted August 5, 2010 For what it is worth over the years we went to the various beaches in Bermuda and always thought that Horseshoe Bay beach was by far the best. I would say that Elbow Beach (stayed at the hotel) was second. Keith
Cruisin 4 Ever Posted August 6, 2010 #7 Share Posted August 6, 2010 When we were in Bermuda last year we went to Elbow beach, It's a beautiful pink sand beach, but we didn't find any concession stands, or beach charis/umbrellas. They were all private for the resorts. Not sure where you are docking but I would recommend going over the St. Georges (the ferries go there). Walk past Tobacco bay hwere some people will tell you to go - it's samll and crowded. Just past there is Fort St. Catherine, and the beach there is quite nice. My faily went there and there was no one else around. THere is a restaurant right there as well.
flatcircle Posted August 12, 2010 #8 Share Posted August 12, 2010 We went to Elbow Beach in July. There was a concession stand on the end of the road before you walked down the stairs to the beach. On the beach, there was a stand renting chairs and umbrellas. When we got there around 11:30, there were still plenty available and every few people were on the beach. As the afternoon progressed, more people arrived but it never got crowded. There are no bathroom facilities.
