Passports and filling out documentation

My passport shows the city and state of issue. My friends all got new passports and no city and state is listed. In filling out documetation they ask for city of issue, what do they put?

They need to put "United States Department of State" in place of a city, as they are really asking for the authority now~

Thanks for the quick response. I was at a loss when they told me about their passports not having the city.

No problem~ they need to change that question as all new passports have the Authority now and not a city~

We have gotten a number of visas since our passport was issued with "US Department of State". That is what we put and we have not had any problem.

I wonder how many people put the nearest city that they applied in that space? That was my first thought until I asked here.

Put what ever it says in that area on the passport. Mine says National Passport Center but my sisters says Charleston
