Accra it is! Taxis?

After reading many posts, I think I'll spend my time at Accra beach. I know I can catch a taxi at the port, but how easy is getting a taxi back to the ship from the beach? Also, any recomendations on where to have the taxi drop us off at the beach? Looking for a place to rent umbrellas and chairs.

There are taxi's waiting at the beach drop off. Just walk up to the circle drive and you'll have someone ask if you need a taxi (even if you don't). The taxi dropped a group of us off right at the circle drive at the beach and its up to you where you get your umbrella. There are several areas in which to pick. IIRC some offer a couple free drinks with umbrella and chair rental (unless that was St. Martin :D)

Accra was my favorite beach on my trip. It is also the beach by which all my beach excursions will now be measured. It was THAT good.

We will be in Barbados in December as well- Sunday Dec 26th.

Are Sundays typical work days for the folks in Barbados?

I hope we dont find beaches bars and restaurants closed.

Does anyone have any info? Also, are there any water sports on Accra?

Sunday Dec. 26th. is hardly yer typical Sunday! ;)

In fact no Sunday during the month of December is a typical Sunday.

Your Day here will be Boxing Day, i.e. the day after Christmas Day

but also slap bang at the height of Tourist Season on the island

and Cruise Ship Season, at our Port.. and as long as there's a buck to be made

chances are good you'll find most services available: we need da money! :)

Beaches will not be closed: they never are, although some commercial activities may be somewhat limited.

Beach bars and restaurants may/may-not be open, but you won't suffer too badly, I'm pretty sure.

There will be food and drink available somewhere, rest assured.

Watersports at Accra? Not a lot, although you can never tell.

Sometimes guys with 16 ft. Hobie cats turn up, and sometimes the jetski guys are around.

A lot depends on just how choppy/surfy the whole South Coast is on Your Day.
