jomf Posted August 20, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 20, 2010 We have the choice of either -: Ride the Rapids St John NB $99 or Tidal Bore rafting Halifax $199 Has any one done either of these, if so, which is better bearing in mind the difference in cost. We are youngish and fairly fit, love adventure, 4x4 etc
Rare Keith1010 Posted August 21, 2010 #2 Share Posted August 21, 2010 If this is through your cruise line you may want to also post this on the board for your cruise line as well. Keith

maryann ns Posted August 21, 2010 #4 Share Posted August 21, 2010 The tidal bore rafting is not in Halifax but just less than an hour outside the city. The most important thing to check is the tides. I hear when it is a very high tide it is an absolute blast. I have yet to go, but it is on my ever lengthening list. So you will need to have a good high tide and it will need to be at the right time of day. I would not trust the cruise line to have looked into this. http://www.tidalboreraftingpark.com/rafting.php?content=10&PHPSESSID=5a4bcf5fae719a6f4224f471e007fde6 http://www.adventurenovascotia.com/display_adventure.php?id=13&cat=Tidal%20Bore%20Rafting http://www.shubie.com/ http://www.tidalboreraftingtours.com/ There are lots of videos on youtube if you want to do a search. If it does work out to be a good day and time then it would be great fun. It is in a lovely pastoral area with a wide river with mud flats. It is a tidal river with the water coming in and going out every six hours. The rafts take advantage of the incoming rush of water at high tide.
