Princess Secrets they Don't Tell You

We had some on Coralin May. All it was, was a very poor iced milk. Don't go out of your way for it.

The ice cream however in the MDRs is always great.

Quality at the Ice Cream Bar has varied from poor ice milk as the poster stated to fairly decent creamy soft serve. It seems to vary by ship so give it a try. The ice creams and sorbets in the MDRs have been almost uniformly very good.

I did it! I read through all 76 pages! Got lots of tips for our first cruise. (well, my husband's first cruise, my second.) Really looking forward to going to Alaska for a 14-day Vancouver and back trip, hoping that this may be our new mode of travel. Thanks to all who had advice.

We sailed on the 6/18 SB Coral Princess. The last cruise that we took was 8 years ago. We were surprised that the food in the Horizon Court was much better than in the MDR.

That surprises me too, since, in May of this year, I considered that the food in Horizon Court had gone downhill!!!

I have seen all kinds of comments about the lack of problems with bringing wine onboard at many points of embarkation and ports of call, but I haven't seen anything about the "ease" of doing this at NYC and ports on the Canada/NE cruise. Anybody have any experience at these sites?

On our recent CB transatlantic and British Isles cruises you could get at the Scoops ice cream bar on the Lido deck, vanilla, chocolate and strawberry favours of regular (hard) ice cream in addition to the soft serve products.

Sorry to tell you but if you remove the auto tip, the employees are required to turn in any other tip you give them, into the tipping pool:eek:. If however you leave auto tip on, they may keep the extra tip you have given them:).

I have no problem paying the auto-tip. You have to remember there other employee's you never see, helping to make your cruise special. Also if you give additional tip to your Waiter or waitress, don't forget the busboy.

So you bring in your bottle of wine and they ask for corkage. You say, "I bought through Princess". Comfirmation call to purser to confirm and the purser said not purchased on board. Do you really want the confrontation? What you are attempting to accomplish is basically theft of services. :mad:Maybe you catch the captain in a bad mood and he throws you off the ship. What next, taking the towels? Kick a cat? Knock an old lady down? Lie on your mortgage loan?

Stealing robs us all.

Love it..

I have boarded in Brooklyn in 2009, 2010, and 2011.

We brought wine on each sailing without any problem.

Once we brought a 6 pack of assorted beers which was confiscated...because so many posted there was no problem with beer

go figure...

Last time we filled a carry-on with wine...and sent it to our cabin as checked baggage (boxed wine- large quantities ahaha) and carried on some more..there were 6 of us...no issue at all!

Slap a luggage tag on a case of water and it gets delivered also!

That is such a bunch of hogwash (sorry but don't want this to be removed if I typed what I wanted to type). I have lost many times in the casino on the slots the first few nights of the cruise whether I play for an hour or three hours, and won like crazy the last night onboard. In fact, many times I call the cabin that final evening to tell my hubby I won back all I lost during the cruise, plus more, and many times a lot more and I won't be back to the cabin for a while longer. Always on the slots.

Gambling is what it is called. It has nothing to do with when your there. If your dice, or cards come up you win. When it doesn't (which is most of time, or they would closed down) you lose.

We had the same experience. To please us, they started to bring out too much escargot, we would feel badly and try to eat them all. We always tip the head waiter(s) nicely, when we get treated special

I didn't understand Escargot was so popular. I have so many snails lol around my house, I will gladly give away.

The best hint I would suggest is to be sure to go see the Shopping expert little show. It really paid off for us. There are all kinds of free items that you can get from the jewelry stores on shore some require a purchase but many do not. Also if you go to Diamond International be sure to ask for all kinds of free stuff you just may get it, especially with a purchase!

Diamond International? What a joke. I have always wondered, if Princess has any stock in it.

Regarding signing a waiver for "undercooked" hamburgers, this option is also available for a rare steak (my husband's favorite) or seared Ahi (well, some kind of tuna anyway). After receiving two steaks that were too well done, the waiter got the head waiter and proceded to the kitchen where it was finally resolved. After that night he got his steak the way he wanted it the first time.

This is ridiculous, I can get a rare hamburger at a shore base restaurant without signing anything, why not aboard a ship.

From what I have been told, most cruise lines operating in North America have an interest in DI.

Diamonds International and all of the other "recommended" shops are the biggest rip-off ever! If you shop there, you are a true sucker. Yes, Princess is in cahoots with them, Emeralds International and all of the other shops that they try to shove down your throat. Shop around at the little mom and pop type stores in port. You will absolutely get a better deal.

I drink my juice in the evening. Get it at breakfast when it is free. Keep it in my frig. 'till I want it. Get a thermos so I can have several cups of hot tea when I want it without going back and forth to Lido. Get free coffee, tea in Lido. Have to pay for it in bars. I am sure these hints are on previous pages, just did not want to read 77 pages.

  • 2 weeks later...

I read several posts which said you can order your favorite foods ahead of time (escargot, lamb dishes, etc.) as long as you give them 24 hour advance notice. Is this true in anytime dining as well as fixed :confused:since your table and servers change daily?

Thanks in advance for any info!

Kathy
