lizbow Posted September 2, 2010 #76 Share Posted September 2, 2010
And to get around the 3%, just sit at a slot machine, open a "bank", transfer $$ from your on board account into the "bank", cash out the bank. No 3% paid. I usually give ourselves $1000 OBC (which I charge to a credit card to get air miles), then we use this method to get daily spending money. That way we don't have to carry a large amount of cash. The 3% applies only at the casino cashier when you take a cash advance against a credit card.
So...as I dont use the casino..i am not familiar with the rules, are you saying that ANY on board credit, even what the T.A gives you for booking with them, can be turned into cash in your pocket, without a fee..? Thats far better than trying to spend on ship stuff !! dresch25 Posted September 2, 2010 #77 Share Posted September 2, 2010
It is one's own personal decision. Mine is up over 50% from when I purchased in February of 2009 ($19.56) and I have received $400 of onboard credit during that time. I have no plans on selling or stop cruising any time soon.

You download the money to a slot machine and then tell the slot machine to put it on your cruise card (it is not really on your card, that is just a means of having an ID). The money will have come from your room account whether you have OBC or not.
FLACRUISER99 Posted September 2, 2010 #79 Share Posted September 2, 2010
For those of you who have owned stock for a while: How long have you been receiving OBC's as a benefit? When I went to the Shareholder Benefit page, I see that the offer expires in July. Based on past experience, do they update this to continue the benefit, or will the program end in July?
Yes it has been renewed every year for at least the last 10 years, but you could not always combine with FCC's
