Why Do People...

Why do people think that one single type or one slot machine is always the one they want to play?

Does one type of slot machine actually pay off more than another?

Does it really mater?

Most likely they got lucky on that machine ONCE so they think they will win on it every time

Ok, I'm going to confess. My wife is one of these folks.

She loves playing slots and she will stay forever at a machine she likes. She plays .25 machines.

But here is the thing. When she gets tired of the slots , she goes to roulette and starts winning. So how do I get her to stop playing slots?

I only play craps and sometimes roulette.

I agree that some machines pay better, but I have seen people sitting at slots before they are turned on. I just can't imagine someone so obsessed with one machine.

I was probably one of those people you see sitting waiting for a particular machine to come on - love slots! :D

I always liked the progressive build up machines, however, they have removed them all. Cherry Pie, Gold Mine, etc. where you fill up the board and get some sort of a pay off. Early in the morning I would check the machines and if they were close to a payoff I could cash in on them with very little play. Most payouts were small but some were pretty good. Oh well. Back to black jack.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO F22Smitty: I have no idea why anyone likes one type of slot machine over another. Maybe they won at that type of machine once. Just check the payout tables and see which one you would like. Higher payback machines tend to draw more players.

I'll admit it... I only play at the "pretty machines". If it's fun to look at, I like to play it.

(I'll also add that I'm not a serious gambler. I only give myself $50 to play with. I "won big" when I left a casino with an extra $32 in my pocket.:D)

I have heard both ways...have the majority of you won better on video poker..or reg. slots??? I keep hearing the odds are better on vid.poker, but seems the "random" number thing would apply to both? What do you think????

Mechanical slot machine odds used to be "tightened" and "loosened" by hand to payback anywhere from 75% to 104%. Today's electronic machines have programming that can be easily changed with payback percentages typically between 90-97%.

Electronic video poker machines cannot be manipulated in this way. They deal from a randomly shuffled deck of cards after each hand and the odds of winning are the same no matter what machine you play in a row of similar type. The house earns more money depending on the odds of the pay outs. Regular old boring "jacks or better" poker usually has the best odds, but many people enjoy playing variations like "Deuces Wild" or "10 or better" which don't pay out as much over time.

If you want the best odds at a machine, avoid the slots and play straight jacks or better video poker. Then again, this is entertainment and don't gamble more than you're willing to lose!
