Okay already - if you guys don't stop this crap about tipping you and YOU ALONE will get this thread pulled. Grow up and move on. So EVERYONE ELSE what is the best advice you got that you used and passed on. Besides tipping.

The best advice I got from this board: Check for price drops, military rates, and other specials.

Call TA and get OBC. Save me a few $$$ in the past.

1. Use the casino as your ATM. The ships ATM charge $6 for each transaction. I loaded money onto my machine and then loaded it to my sail and sign card and cashed out. That simple and it only took me a matter of 3 mins. The same amount of time you may have to spend in line waiting for the ATM.

Can you clarify this a little for me? Are you putting money onto your card through the slots so that you can make purchases on the ship with the S&S? Just a little curious. The one time that I put a cash deposit on my S&S verses using a credit card I just went to the pursurs desk. :)

What she is talking about is how to get CASH without using ATM machine.

Cash to be use at ports.

Cool waters...thanks for the TIps and Ideas. It is good for me to read this stuff. We leave in a week. I my self would like to see photos of "The cheap seats" cabins not the aft wraps. If you have on I would love to see it. My wife and I ahve an ocean view.....wondering if it looks just like the photos on the CCL website;)

It may have been a lot of extra work for you, but I already knew what we had planned and I wanted most of it to go to the buffet staff as this is where we spent most of our time for meals. Again, this was my choice and I was just sharing with everyone that it is a possibility. We still payed the same amount as everyone else....well not everyone else b/c on the last night we were standing in line to add more money to our account and some in line with us where talking about removing them all together b/c they felt as if their fare should have taken care of it.

that's just sad! I prepay my tips ahead of time and then tip extra as warranted. I'm glad you had a good cruise!

I know...I didn't say anything though....I didn't want to be in line for 4 hours trying to convince them of something they would never be convinced of..lol

how did you get the fan in past the new '' plug in police '' :D. great cabin.

lol, I posted in another thread that I had it in my carry-on, but now I remember that it was in my checked bag. It was in the last one that we had delivered to our room. That bag came much later than the other ones and I just knew they were going to take my fan.....but they didn't and I was all smiles :D. Not only did I get my fan in but it's also plugged into a power-strip! I had that in my carry-on and they never said a word about it. :)

Best Advice I received was Get a Balcony Room. :)

Best advice I give out is Get a Balcony Room. :)

I agree!:D I know there are those that say you don't spend anytime in your cabin so why spend the money. But, for me, I love being able to walk out on my balcony in the early morning or very late at night when I wouldn't be up on deck. Love those balconies.

Not trying to stir, but I think Carnival told you wrong about which group the buffet workers fall into. The wait staff often work the buffet line also. I think they are grouped as "servers" , which includes waiters and buffet workers. Thus the larger share per day.

I can't even imagine where to begin to figure out how many emploees work in the buffet? How much do you think they each received:confused:

thats all I was trying to say, if you dont know who to give the tips out to, then the staff wouldnt know either, its going to be hit or miss, and somehow I got pulled into the whole tipping thing .. sorry folks. .. and yes of course I know some people dont know you can remove tips ..I was trying to say about putting loose money for unknown folks into a envelope.

I did put the OP on ignore, so I will not be tempted again.

I too know better than to get into the whole tipping question.

Best advice given to me is the research. One specific example is the excursions, we had friends take the horseback riding at Coz. What they said really surprised us. They signed up for and paid for the Carnival excursion, other people were able to book with the same company in advance cheaper and others were even able walk off the ship and join the excursion. When they first saw the horse, they said they were skin and bones and it was heartbreaking to them. They were instructed not to let the horses eat the leaves on the trail; they spent their entire time battling with their horse to prevent it from eating. Many points to that story and one's expectations.

Best advice given? I have a cruise tips page that I often post to new posters.

Best advice I ever received was "don't try for a bargan vacation when you cruise. Plan on spending what you would normally spend on any vacation. Then let yourself be amazed at how much more that budget allows you on a ship!" :)

The best advice I can give is to pre-pay everything you can. There are good arguments for not doing this. But when I let myself be influenced by them I did regret it. The peace of mind and sense of satisfaction of having (almost) everything paid up front added so much to my attitude, my relaxation and simplified my day to day spending decisions so much it made cruising feel even more luxurious to me! Your milage my vary, but I love that feeling. :)

Yes, I forgot that advice!! It was a good one too. We had room 7258 on the Pride and the balcony was extra long!

P.s Thank you posting without the negativity. I appreciate that!!

OH NO NO NO! You didn't just get a balcony. You got THE balcony! Great thread! Great ideas.

Haven't taken my maiden cruise yet (on the Pride) but I love the great advice on CC.

I am loving this thread...

Best Advice Received: Order the Warm Chocolate Melting Cake. Get a good seat on day 1 people watching all of the newbies getting charged for the "free" welcome aboard drink. :D

Best Advice Given: Go to the pursor's desk and ask for a deck of cards or 2, they are great on sea days and inexpensive gifts to little ones back home.

And oh yeah, order the warm chocolate melting cake... delish

Worst advice taken: the balcony club, it wasn't the most comfortable time getting comfortable.
