HEINER Posted September 18, 2010 #1 Share Posted September 18, 2010 What is the best way to get from the airport to the Four Seasons Hotel? Thanks for any information you can give us. Betty:)
room010 Posted September 19, 2010 #2 Share Posted September 19, 2010 Which city? If it's Sydney I always recommend taking a taxi for the convenience of door to door service, especially if you have a lot of luggage. It's a 20 minute trip (depending on traffic) and should cost around A$40. There is a train from the airport to Circular Quay station and then it's a 10 minute walk to the hotel. There are also plenty of private minibus transfers available. Make Google your friend ;)
Australian family Posted September 19, 2010 #3 Share Posted September 19, 2010 If you are arriving in the morning, you could hit peak hour traffic which will make the trip very expensive. Try this shuttle service, very reliable, they were recommended to us by the Westin Hotel. http://www.kst.com.au/
Aussie Gal Posted September 19, 2010 #4 Share Posted September 19, 2010 The taxis are efficient and it is a quick ride into the city if you choose to use the direct route. Here is a link which helps you work out the cost; http://www.worldtaximeter.com/sydney/sydney+airport/city Jennie
mommas Posted September 19, 2010 #5 Share Posted September 19, 2010 I am also looking to get to the Sydney Four Seasons. Is 9/9:30 a.m. peak time to get from the airport to the Four Seasons?
Aussie Gal Posted September 19, 2010 #6 Share Posted September 19, 2010 I am also looking to get to the Sydney Four Seasons. Is 9/9:30 a.m. peak time to get from the airport to the Four Seasons? No by then most of the Peak Hour traffic is starting to disappear. I used to regularly arrive in Sydney around 9.30am each time I visited and found that the trip to the city was very quick. Globaliser Posted September 20, 2010 #7 Share Posted September 20, 2010 What is the best way to get from the airport to the Four Seasons Hotel?Another recommendation here for a taxi (again, assuming you mean Sydney). For all-round ease and convenience, it really can't be beaten.
HEINER Posted September 27, 2010 Author #8 Share Posted September 27, 2010 Thanks so much for all the information. I can always count on my Cruise Critic friends. We get in at 7:30 AM so that would be peak and are going to Sydney. So we will go with the taxi. We will have four large luggage so i hope we call get everything in the taxi. Again thanks. Aussie Gal Posted September 27, 2010 #9 Share Posted September 27, 2010 Often at the airport there are the larger taxis which will take all your luggage. You may have to just miss a couple until a larger taxi arrives. There is always a queue and you usually take your turn but if the taxi for you is too small, then let someone else take that one and wait for the larger on to arrive. HEINER Posted September 27, 2010 Author #10 Share Posted September 27, 2010 What % do we tip the taxi cab driver. Thanks Betty:)
Globaliser Posted September 27, 2010 #11 Share Posted September 27, 2010 No need to tip. Round up the fare to the next dollar, or maybe the dollar above that.
Aussie Gal Posted September 27, 2010 #12 Share Posted September 27, 2010 I totally agree with Globaliser. Just round it up to the next dollar or if it comes to within a couple of dollars of a note, then give him the note. eg. say it comes to $28.50, we would give him the $30. julia Posted September 28, 2010 #13 Share Posted September 28, 2010 Can I assume that the taxi's will only accept AUSD$? :)
moyaroo Posted September 28, 2010 #14 Share Posted September 28, 2010 There are ATM's in the airport right after leaving the customs area. It is a good idea to have a $100 or so anyway.
Aussie Gal Posted September 28, 2010 #15 Share Posted September 28, 2010 Can I assume that the taxi's will only accept AUSD$? :) Yes they will only accept Australian dollars. The same goes for shops, transport, hotels etc. Some taxis will take credit cards but there is usually a hefty charge added on. Jennie
room010 Posted September 28, 2010 #16 Share Posted September 28, 2010 Yes, get some cash from an airport ATM. The way the exchange rate is going you'll more or less get AU$1 = US$1 which is good news for Aussies, probably not such good news for you!
