I agree 100% but some people apparently don't care. Hopefully nothing will happen to them on a cruise and won't need to jump through hoops and pay lots more than a what a passport costs to get home. But if it does, I'm sure there will be a thread complaining about it.

Applied for my passport on the September 7th and I got it in the mail on Saturday. I was shocked. They still haven't sent back the original certified birth certificates, hopefully they will come soon.

 

 

They generally come separately. If you haven't received it in a few weeks, call and ask about it.

Thanks. I'm only worried about mine since it is my original "Original". I've kept track of it for 40 plus years. If you know how bad I am about keeping track of things you'd understand the significance. :o

I still have my "original" - which is still a certified copy of the original document, which remains at the bureau of vital records.

 

Even though you would be bummed if you never got your "original'' back, you can always order another copy. In fact, I did exactly that so that the next time I might ever need a BC, I could show the newer copy and keep the "original" copy in my scrapbook.
