How cold?

We're sailing out of Bayonne on Nov 19th and I'd like to have an idea of how cold it could be until we reach warmer waters, should we have a fleece and jeans for sail away?

Definitely fleece and jeans, and a windbreaker, as the breeze onboard will make it colder. Since you are coming from the UK, I suspect you will already have cold weather clothing along. EM

We sailed our of NYC on Noordam January 2007 and we ate our lunch outside on Lido Deck as it was freakish warm weather.

Bring a sweatshirt or sweater that you can layer under a light weight jacket if you go out to weather deck while sailing south. It would be very odd for it not to start to get warm after you are about off the coast of Virginia.

Remember you don't have to go outside for the first day or so if you find it too cold. You will sail about 5 P.M. and by next morning you will have traveled a good deal south.

Just another thought. If you look at http://www.accuweather.com you will find that they post 15 day weather forecasts. Although their forecasts are not always accurate, their temperature trend info is pretty good. You can simply check the forecast for New York City (only a few miles from Bayonne) for your first day. As the others have said, it will warm-up as you sail south and by your 2nd morning (3rd day of the cruise) you should be in relatively warm weather.
