Sandyshore Posted October 13, 2010 #2 Share Posted October 13, 2010 I was just curious, but i've heard something about Magens bay not being safe. Is this true because i'd like to visit but at the same time not be scared for my life..lolz. FWIW, I was there last December and never felt unsafe. It was a beautiful, relaxing day at a beautiful beach. I've read many negative posts about Coki, but not about Magens.
Langley Cruisers Posted October 13, 2010 #3 Share Posted October 13, 2010 I have never heard anything about Magens being unsafe, nor have I ever felt unsafe the three times I have been there. I think what helps is the admission charge to get in: $4.00 each person, and it also helps keep vendors at bay. I have only ever seen one hair braider walking up and down the beach and even then, she was non-intrusive. I'm not a local but can only tell you what I've experienced. Magens Bay is one of the most beautiful places in the world. We loved it. Feel free to enjoy MB and please do not worry. Obviously, you will use caution and common sense as you would in any situation, at home or abroad.
seashinesunshine Posted October 13, 2010 #4 Share Posted October 13, 2010 It felt very safe to us, but St Thomas in general has a reputation of being unsafe. It was very crowded which is why we are going to Coki next time. Did not feel unsafe there either.
