On Board Credit from TA

Iv always been able to use all OBC for anything, even tips.

Im not sure I understand the above post, as to me the answer is yes. Not sure what they mean by borrowing against the money.

Carnival says their OBC can not be used for casino (but you can), but Iv never seen any such about TA OBC (especially since the TA isnt supposed to be issuing OBC). Are you sure its a offer from the TA, not from Carnival?

Indirectly. You can borrow against your ship board account to play at the casino, but you will also incur charges for doing that.

There is no charge for charging credits from you S&S card in the casino. I do it everytime I cruise rather than travel with a lot of cash.

In answer to the OP, yes you can, it just shows up on your S&S card as an entertainment expense and debits from any OBC that's there (even a Carnival OBC)

The only time you incur a charge is when you ask Guest Services to give you money. That transaction is just like a cash advance on your credit card. I think the fee is 3%

Sounds like a very nice TA. I've done cruises where all OBC could be used for anything including money back (check) at the end of cruise for any balance, I have also been on cruises where the refundable and non-refundable are listed on the settlement invoice so you can see where and what you need to spend to get the most out of your obc. We have had chances at using them for tips and casino on some Carnival ships while not allowed on others, you could ask the purser to clarify for your ship/cruise. Go figure! Anyway enjoy your cruise.

May this be used in the Casino? thank you

The onboard credit is merely applied to you sign and sail account. You can use your S&S card in the casino (Carnival actually encourages it) so indirectly you would be using the OBC in the casino.

I don't know why this is so confusing to me......Do you take your S&S to the cage, table, machine? Do the machines have a place to insert your card? How does it work at the tables? You hand them your S&S card and I assume they check to make sure you have $ available. Is that it? It sounds way too simple. LOL

I am heading out on my first cruise late November - so I hope this isn't a really stupid question for all you cruise experts -

What does an on-board credit "look" like. What I mean is, how do you know that you have onboard credit. If you "manage my cruise" on the Carnival website - does it show up there? Do you get an email saying that you have so many credits?

Also, do all Travel Agents give on-board credits as opposed to refunds, more specifically TA that were booked online?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. :)

When you get on the ship even before the casino opens you can set up your players bank.

1. insert your S&S card in the slot machine at the top of the machine (sometimes they are built in to the machine, sometimes there is a separate box thingy)

2. There will be 6 or 8 little oval button that are the function key.

3. The 1st thing you have to do is change your pin. you press that key and it will ask you to put in your birthday in mmddyy and press enter. Then it asks for you to set a 4 to 6 digit pin and press enter, then it has you repeat the pin.

Now your players bank is set up. When you want to play do the following.

1. insert your S&S card and leave it in the machine the entire time you are playing (for every 1000 point of play (and that's not $ for $) you will be paid $10.)

If you are playing with cash, just insert your bills $1 to $100 into the cash slot and start spinning. When you want to leave the machine press the UPLOAD CREDITS TO MY PLAYERS BANK button at the top of the machine. BE SURE TO WAIT UNTIL THE MACHINE SAYS IT HAS UPLOADED YOUR CREDITS. If you remove your card before that happens anyone can walk up to that machine and either play or put your credits on their card.

Move to another machine, insert your card but this time if you want to play with the credits that you just uploaded press the DOWNLOAD CREDITS FROM MY PLAYERS BANK button and it will ask for your pin number (then press enter), it will display how much is in your players bank and in whole dollar amounts just use the keypad to put in 10 (then press enter) and about a second later the credits will appear on the machine.

If you want to get cash from you S&S account you hit the button that says DEBIT MY S&S CARD. it asks for your pin and the amount and loads them to the machine. If you really want the cash in your hand go ahead and immediately upload those credits back into your players bank, take your card to the cashiers cage and ask for the amount of cash you want. They will swipe your card and you input you pin on the touch pad.

I think you can use your card at the Blackjack tables and maybe some of the poker tables but I'm not really sure cause I don't play those games.

Hi there Janey... not sure if you will see this before Sunday, but I was wondering......

After you upload your credits to your players bank and take your card to the cashier's cage, do they actually give you cash or do they give you a check????
