saintbernardlover Posted October 15, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted October 15, 2010 Awesome ideas JS. Especially the battery operated candle. Add a little romance? Never heard of it, do you have any links?
js Posted October 15, 2010 #4 Share Posted October 15, 2010 Awesome ideas JS. Especially the battery operated candle. Add a little romance? Never heard of it, do you have any links? Glad you liked them. They are things I use on our cruise that I always bring. As for the candle, I sometimes see them at CVS, Walmart or at a supermarket. They are under $10. saintbernardlover Posted October 15, 2010 Author #5 Share Posted October 15, 2010 I've seen others posts that an over the door shoe hanger is good to bring but I don't get it. Is it to hold shoes? What door do you hang it on? Doesn't it take up a lot of space in your luggage?
jorapp Posted October 15, 2010 #6 Share Posted October 15, 2010 The shoe holder becomes the "catch all" for general stuff so it does not clutter the counters/tables. For a gift idea, how about an e-reader...like a Kindle, etc. Do your in-laws have a digital camera? If not, that would be a nice gift as well. If you want true stocking stuffers, how about a plug in room freshener w/nightlight and extra outlet...for the bathroom. Where does your cruise go? Knowing that might spark a few ideas. NordicPrince Posted October 15, 2010 #7 Share Posted October 15, 2010 - Can go to sporting goods store and get lanyards with various team themes so you can get your sea pass card punched when you get on board and carry it around your neck - go to CVS and get travel sizes of things like Aloe Vera - don't care if you lose 'em sunglasses - silly T-shirts or hats for the beach - common theme good - duct tape for everyone enjoy your cruise
saintbernardlover Posted October 15, 2010 Author #8 Share Posted October 15, 2010 thanks for your ideas. E-readers are out - have been wanting one for two years - definately not in the budget. May buy used paperbacks on amazon. Already have duct tape on my packing list but a great idea to put little portions of duct tape in stockings. Going on Western Caribbean - Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Jamaica Thanks again, keep em comin!
jorapp Posted October 15, 2010 #9 Share Posted October 15, 2010 Oh, just remembered two things evidently not available on cruise ships... Super glue and mini-screw drivers for eye glasses.
Hozhoni Posted October 15, 2010 #10 Share Posted October 15, 2010 These are all good... last year we had a pirate/ cruise theme and gave the five kids ages 5-17 a cruise for Christmas... they had no idea and we the set sail 12/26/09. My DH made wooden pirate chests and we filled it with loot such as gold dollars, small toys skulls or Bucs watches, books, cards, beads, water camers and disposables ( a huge hit), snorkle gear and etc. The girls got new dresses and my son a new shirt and tie. They each had a riddle/ clue and as a team they had to hunt out the buried treasure, I kid you not, in the front yard we buried in a box five cruise documents rolled like scrolls...the best christmas to date. Good Luck and have fun! Be creative.......

KellyJean Posted October 15, 2010 #12 Share Posted October 15, 2010 Awesome ideas JS. Especially the battery operated candle. Add a little romance? Never heard of it, do you have any links? You'll definately be able to find these in a variety of stores as they bring out their Christmas merchandise. Watch for them in the Christmas lights. goldiemom Posted October 15, 2010 #13 Share Posted October 15, 2010 Inexpensive binoculars from Walmart. I got mine for about $10. We take them on every cruise. A few painted magnets (Michael's) in the shape of flip flops, umbrellas, etc. that they can put on the cabin door. They cost about 59 cents each. CruiserCindy Posted October 15, 2010 #14 Share Posted October 15, 2010 How about things from the Dollar store like sunglasses, suntan oil or lotion, body lotion etc. Have a great cruise
RayJacki Posted October 15, 2010 #15 Share Posted October 15, 2010 If you want true stocking stuffers, how about a plug in room freshener w/nightlight and extra outlet...for the bathroom. This probably won't work for the bathroom because the outlets are usually only the special ones that only work for shavers and don't fit blow dryers or nightlights or any other standard US plugs. I've tried!

lady_cruiser Posted October 15, 2010 #19 Share Posted October 15, 2010 I've seen others posts that an over the door shoe hanger is good to bring but I don't get it. Is it to hold shoes? What door do you hang it on? Doesn't it take up a lot of space in your luggage? We use ours to hold our toothbrush holders, tooth paste, deodrant, hair brush, small botlles of mouth wash, makeup, etc. It frees out the counter space on the bathroom vanity and keeps our bathroom looking clean. The Flying Pirate Posted October 15, 2010 #21 Share Posted October 15, 2010 If they don't have an underwater camera those disposable underwater cameras are cheap (if you buy them at home) and take fairly good pictures. They are a great way to capture some unique cruise memories.

kassimer1 Posted October 15, 2010 #25 Share Posted October 15, 2010 how about a small travel first aide kit, small snacks for when they get the munchies and dont feel like leaving the room or getting room service. Do they like to go to the casino? a poker chip keyring, a coffee mug with lid- that keeps the coffee hot longer than the cups on the boat? or a water bottle that has its own filter if they like water but dont want to pay for the package.
