Carnival GLory Summer 2011

I am considering booking Carnival Glory Summer 2011 to canada. Anyone familiar with cabins ? 2 adults /1 child aprox 2 by then.

Also, activies for 2 yr old? Can she use pools?

And, what about dress? Casual? We are used to NCL freestyle.:D

She can only use the pools if she is not wearing a diaper or swimmy diaper. We brought a little inflatable pool/tub for my nephew last time as he was one.

Carnival has elegant nights but you will see very few tuxes, lots of suits, polo shirts, print shirts, skirts, pantsuits, etc. I wear a skirt and top or sundress usually.

What type of cabin interests you? Keep in mind you will need a three person cabin as no matter how old the little cutie is, they count as a third person in the cabin. A TA or PVP can help with that.

Have fun. We went on Glory this past September and plan to again next summer. So convenient out of NYC, I like Canada, and the ship was great.

Is DD going to be under 2 when you sail? If so, there will be certain times during the day when she can use Camp Carnival's area with you, and she will be able to use the after-10 PM babysitting ($6 per hour). If she's over 2, she can participate in Camp Carnival's 2-5 age group.

Yes. DD will be 23 mos if I go in July.

I was thining of junior suite?

A regular balcony cabin should provide you with enough room, rather than spend on a suite. Bring a fold-up bed railing. Carnival does have some, but they are pretty shoddy looking. Your little one will be sleeping on the sofa (converted to a bed, of course) They are very comfortable! (dd19 still sleeps on them when we are cruising!) We did this cruise (5 days) this past July, and had a great time. Bring layers of clothing. We hit 70-80 degrees in port, but the week before us had 50 degree weather!

I love the ocean suites, but for a 5-day cruise with a toddler I think you'll have plenty of room in a regular balcony - unless you're thinking that you want a bathtub for DD, which are available in suites but not in regular cabins. We've had both types of cabins on Glory. The first three photos are of an ocean suite, the others are of a regular balcony cabin. (For the balcony cabin, if you only have three people you won't have the drop-down bunk.)

There are six balconies that wrap around the aft end of the ship, listed as category 9. The cabin itself is the size of a regular balcony cabin, but you book these cabins for the balcony. On Glory the cabins are 8448, 8455, 7440, 7445, 6452 and 6483. If you look at the deck plans, you will also see some odd-shaped cabins aft with larger balconies - they wrap around a crew stairway. These photos are a deck 8 aft wrap balcony on Carnival Victory:

 

 

 

This third shot is looking from the aft wrap along the aft balconies. You will see that the cabin next to the aft wrap (8450 on Glory) has a longer and deeper balcony than most balcony cabins.
