Celebrity has 2 dress codes...not stating my opinion...just stating what

is on the website......2 dress codes and semi formal is not one

of them.

They have Smart Casual and formal.....those are the 2 dress codes

listed.

OMG...I replied to a dress code thread...said I was not going to do that

again LOL

Thanks everyone.

If jeans are not acceptable on Celebrity, then I guess it is not the right cruise line for us.

Guess I will just keep looking for a fit for us.

Thanks again for all your posts,

Tamara

You would avoid a cruise line just because of a pair of pants?

If you're a non-smoker, know that Celebrity doesn't allow smoking in the casino, in cabins, and on balconies like most other cruise lines. Pack your jeans and cruise Celebrity. - It's the schnitzel.

We are in our early 50ies, not party people. We are looking for a relaxed cruise and love the spoiling we got on Carnival. We do not want to have to worry about bratty kids, chain smokers or rude cruisers. I don't want to hear people yelling in the hallways outside my cabin.

Tamara

Hi -- by now, you certainly have gotten an earful about jeans, and cruise-wear, in general -- so I will not go there! However, I'd like to address some of your other cruise factors, if I may:

-- you are in your early 50's. You'll find lot of folks your age on board X.

-- you are looking for a relaxed and pampered cruise experience. Boy, have you found the cruise line for that!

-- you want to avoid "bratty" kids. Although DH and I always try to sail at times when most kids are in school, we felt that X does a great job of keeping the ones that are on board busy and entertained (bratty kids are usually bored and unsupervised ;)).

-- you don't want to be exposed to chain-smokers. Celebrity has one of the best smoking policies around (well, to a non-smoker -- like me,that is). No smoking in the rooms, or on the balconies -- and it's only allowed in a few public areas and bars.

-- you wish to avoid rude cruisers, e.g., people who yell in the hallways outside your cabin door. Well, regardless of your impressions from this thread, I think you will find the majority of X cruisers to be friendly, polite, and generally considerate of their fellow passengers. This includes behavior in elevators and hallways.

Genuinely hope that you will consider X for your future cruise. Either way, happy sailing to you! :D

USAF--I hope that c has not changed the dress rules for the evening--other than so called dress up formal nights C requires or states the men should wear smart casual-- a shirt with sleeves --C assumes that men will wear long pants--you know slax--Iwear jeans all the time back home --however I do not dress the same at a white table cloth restaraunt as I do at say burger King--Do not know your rank--however It is my humble opinion that you would be out of uniform--Usaf was the name of my cat at K55--Are you at whiskey falls--Most people could not care less what you wear--just go with the flow and if you see (other than the first night ) 500 pr of jeans or 4 in the mdr act accordingly best advice that I can give you --please fogive me is KMAGYOYO

We have only been on one cruise (Carnival), but enjoyed it.

Our few complaints seem to be the same as many others.

From what I have read about Celebrity, it sounds like more our type of cruise; but I am curious about some things.

Many posts refer to Celebrity as "refined" or even higher class. Not sure what they really mean.

On the other hand, we like to wear jeans (not ones with holes) and don't want to be around people that turn their noses up at us (also considered rude cruisers). We enjoy meeting new people, but also love our quiet private time.

Is Celebrity for us? Or should we look elsewhere?

Tamara

You will love X!

I wore jeans on non-formal nights with my casual dress shoes, and a nice shirt. I observed quite a few dressed that way. Just no flip-flops...LOL No one gawked at me, crew or otherwise.

As you have stated, you are in your 50's, so you know what is appropriate wear, and what isn't.

Please do not let these peeps frighten you off X. You will love it. I am in my 30's, and I loved it!
