Pool question

I'm going on the Golden in August around the British Isles. I couldn't figure out if any of the pools are usable in cool or rainy weather. Are any of the pools completely covered with the retractable roof/dome? How cold/windy does it get on the trans-atlantic? Can you sit on the decks/balconys?

We were on a cruise in the British Isles in 2003 and the weather was nice enough to be on our balcony often. We went in late July and I believe the weather was a bit warmer than usual. It's a wonderful area, have a great trip!!

We were on a transatlantic in Sept of 2001 and the crossing was wonderful. Warm and balmy. The waters were calm. No problems at all using pools and sunning on the deck. We will be traveling with you on the Golden in Aug. and we expect that the crossing will be just as nice. As far as the pools are concerned, the main pool has a retractable roof so even if we do encounter a day or two of cooler weather once they close the roof the deck warms up. My husband says that the pool is also heated. He swam in the pool every day on our Nova Scotia cruise and the outside temps were in the 40s. This will be our 3rd cruise on the Golden and what we like the best is that the pool and hot tubs are open 24hrs. A midnight swim is a perfect way to end a day.

The entertainment was decent. Nothing in particular stands out as horrible, that I would have remembered. The dance and song reviews were very good. The casino was tight but pleasant. Activities around the pool were fun. The ship is beautiful. We had some children with our group on the second cruise and the staff was wonderful with them. I think the best way to sum it up was that nothing was extreme. Pleasant and enjoyable are the words that come to mind.

Judie.

We went on a cruise to New England and Canada on the Golden. The pool with the retractable roof was warm enough for us to enjoy every day. We swam in the uncovered Terrace Pool the first afternoon, when the ship was still docked in New York City. But it was too cool outside after that afternoon.
